Packers list six questionable to play against Steelers

DT Kenny Clark, RB Ty Montgomery doubtful for Sunday

GREEN BAY – The Packers have listed six players as questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including linebacker Clay Matthews.

Matthews didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday after leaving Sunday’s game against Baltimore with a groin injury. He told reporters earlier this week he expected to be a "game-time" decision.

The Packers also listed safety Morgan Burnett (groin), cornerback Kevin King (shoulder), center Corey Linsley (back), running back Devante Mays (ankle) and guard Lucas Patrick (hand) as questionable to play against the Steelers. While the Packers don't practice on Fridays, Burnett, King and Mays were estimated as full participants.

Defensive tackle Kenny Clark (ankle) and running back Ty Montgomery are doubtful to play. Clark has played in each of the first 26 regular-season games of his career.

With running back Aaron Jones (knee) ruled out for the second consecutive week, rookie Jamaal Williams likely will carry the load for the Packers’ backfield in Pittsburgh.

Offensive lineman Justin McCray (knee), linebackers Ahmad Brooks (back) and Nick Perry (foot), and defensive tackle Quinton Dial (chest) were removed from the injury report and should play.

McCray, who exited against the Ravens with a knee injury, was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice. While he’s been starting at right tackle in place of an injured Bryan Bulaga, McCray is also the primary backup to Linsley at center.

While optimistic about Linsley’s availability Sunday, Head Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Friday morning it was beneficial for McCray to get some work at center after playing strictly guard and tackle since the start of the regular season.

“It’s a little difficult, but after you get a couple reps of it, it’s fine,” said McCray of playing center earlier this week. “I had a couple reps inside today and I felt like I was right back in the preseason doing it. It’s just muscle memory. Just have to get back used to doing it.”

The Steelers will be without rookie standout JuJu Smith-Schuster, who is out with a hamstring injury. The 20-year-old receiver has 33 catches for 568 yards and five touchdowns.

Cornerback Joe Haden will miss his third consecutive game with a fibula injury. Safety Mike Mitchell (ankle) is questionable.
