Packers rule out six players for Sunday

Posted Dec 29, 2017

CB Damarious Randall, LB Clay Matthews, WR Geronimo Allison questionable for Detroit game

GREEN BAY -- The Packers have ruled out six players for Sunday's season finale in Detroit.

Receivers Davante Adams (concussion) and Jordy Nelson (shoulder), guard Jahri Evans (knee), running back Aaron Jones (knee), tight end Richard Rodgers (shoulder) and outside linebacker Nick Perry (ankle/shoulder) are all out for the Lions game.

Green Bay needs to add only one more player to the game-day inactive list to reduce the roster from 53 to the mandated 46 players.

Receiver Geronimo Allison, who has missed practice this week with an illness, is expected to practice on Saturday, according to Head Coach Mike McCarthy, and is questionable. Also questionable for the Packers are cornerback Damarious Randall (knee), linebacker Clay Matthews (hamstring), and backup offensive lineman Ulrick John (back).

Defensive tackle Mike Daniels, who was limited in Thursday's practice with a shoulder injury, is also expected to practice Saturday and has been removed from the injury report.

Adams' absence will prevent him from accomplishing his first 1,000-yard receiving season, after he came up just three yards short a year ago. Adams will finish 2017 with 885 yards and 10 TDs. Nelson winds up with 482 yards and six TDs, with all of his scores coming in the first five games of the season.

Evans played the first 14 games of the season without missing a snap before now missing the last two games. Lucas Patrick is expected to start for Evans at right guard, with Justin McCray starting at right tackle in place of Jason Spriggs.

Both Perry and Matthews missed last week's game, but Matthews has been back at practice this week on a limited basis.

The Lions have ruled out cornerback Nevin Lawson (concussion) and have listed defensive end Anthony Zettel (groin) as questionable. Center Travis Swanson (concussion) was placed on injured reserve.
