Packers Give Back Celebrity Bowling Event set for June 7

Posted Mar 13, 2017

Event to benefit the NWTC Promise Scholarship

Packers players, coaches and alumni will take over the lanes at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley on Wednesday, June 7, for the Packers Give Back Celebrity Bowling Event presented by Nestlé.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) Promise Scholarship, a scholarship which promises to keep college within reach for eligible high school seniors who otherwise could not afford the cost of earning a degree.

Area businesses and individuals are encouraged to support the effort by purchasing a lane to join the fun-filled evening and bowl with a member of the Green Bay Packers family.

Lanes are available for $1,000 and will include a team of four bowlers per lane, with each team to be joined by one Packers celebrity. All participants will receive a gift and team photo, a shirt, their company sign displayed above their lane, plus access to the Nestlé Family Fun Night Buffet.

Registration for the evening begins at 6 p.m., with the bowling event and silent auction to start at 6:30. The silent auction will feature autographed Packers memorabilia, in addition to other items.

For more information and to sign up for the event, please contact the Packers’ community outreach department at 920/569-7500, or go to http://packers.com/packersbowlingevent.

The NWTC Promise Scholarship makes going to college a reality for low-income high school seniors, giving disadvantaged and underrepresented students the belief that they can earn a degree. The student who receives the scholarship is promised up to three years of funding, allowing students to attend college essentially tuition-free.

The NWTC Educational Foundation is dedicated to removing barriers that so many students face as they try to earn a degree or diploma and ensuring that each student, regardless of his or her financial situation, will have access to education.

The Packers Give Back Celebrity Bowling Event is a part of Green Bay Packers Give Back, the Packers’ all-encompassing community outreach initiative, which includes the Green Bay Packers Foundation, appearances made by players, alumni, coaches and staff, youth football outreach, cash and in-kind donations, Make-A-Wish visits, and community events.

For now, Ohio State’s Curtis Samuel is listed as a wide receiver, but he did just as much damage as a running back and returner in college as well. That leaves his NFL future somewhat in doubt, as far as where he fits best, but that’s nothing new to this explosive, hybrid weapon.

A first-team All-Big Ten selection two years in a row at guard, Pat Elflein was asked to move to center in 2016. How did he do? He not only was named first-team all-conference again, but he was a consensus All-American and the Rimington Trophy winner as the nation’s top center in his first year full-time at the position. So what will he play in the NFL? Guard or center?

Penn State receiver Chris Godwin has put up some pretty good numbers, with 128 catches for just over 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns over the last two seasons. But he wants NFL teams to know his game is more than just the numbers.
