Rodgers wins second player-of-the-week award

Posted Oct 5, 2011

Aaron Rodgers is the “NFC Offensive Player of the Week” for the first week of October, following his six-touchdown performance in last Sunday’s 49-23 win over the Denver Broncos.

The Packers quarterback threw for 408 yards, a regular-season high for him, four touchdowns and a 134.5 passer rating. He also scored touchdowns on runs of 11 and eight yards. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Rodgers became the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 400 yards, throw for four TDs and rush for two TDs in one game.

Rodgers was “NFC Offensive Player of the Month” for September and also won player-of-the-week honors for Week 1. This marks the fourth time in his career he has been named player of the week.

To date this season, he has thrown for 1,325 yards, 12 touchdowns, two interceptions and a league-leading 124.6 passer rating. Rodgers has completed 73 percent of his passes.
