Crosby earned it this time for his effort last Sunday in the Metrodome, where he made all four of his field goal tries, including a franchise-record 58-yarder late in the third quarter. Crosby also hit four of seven kickoffs for touchbacks in the 33-27 victory over the Vikings.
The strong day extended Crosby’s streak to 21 consecutive field goals made in the regular season, a franchise record. He is 14-of-14 this season. Sunday’s game also marked the fifth time in Crosby’s career he has made four field goals in a game.
Crosby also won the NFC’s weekly award two weeks ago following the Atlanta game, when he also made four field goals and tied his then-franchise record with a 56-yard boot.
This is the fourth player-of-the-week award in Crosby’s career. He also won it in Week 1 of 2007, his rookie season, and in Week 1 of 2010.
