PULASKI'S MORGAN NAMED GREEN BAY PACKERS HIGH SCHOOL COACH OF THE WEEK
Phil Morgan, head coach at Pulaski High School, has been selected the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week.
After a 0-2 start, Morgan coached the Red Raiders to seven consecutive wins to finish the season 7-2 and a tie for second place in the Bay Conference with New London. Pulaski begins WIAA playoff action Tuesday, Oct. 28, against co-champions of the Fox Valley Association Appleton West, who finished the season 7-2.
Morgan is in his 17th year as head coach at Pulaski High School and 21st year with the Red Raider football program. Prior to his appointment at Pulaski, Morgan coached three years at Adams High School. A native of Lake Mills, Wis., Morgan receive his masters in physical education and coaching from South Dakota State and undergraduate degree in physical education and biology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. While attending UW-L, he played a wide receiver for coach Roger Hearing. At Lake Mills High School, Morgan played defensive end and tight end under head coach Phil Schroeder.
The Coach of the Week Program aids in the development of youth football, giving high school coaches the recognition they deserve. Each week during the 1997 high school football season, the Green Bay Packers will select one high school coach as the Coach of the Week winner. Each recipient receives several items and privileges, including the award, a $500 donation to the school's football program from NFL Charities and Play Football t-shirts for all the team's coaches and players.
The Green Bay Packers are being assisted by WBAY-TV, the Green Bay Press Gazette and WNFL Radio in nominating coaches each week and saluting the winning coach.
