KIRKLAND, WA.-The Seattle Seahawks named John Dorsey to the position of Director of Player Personnel, Tuesday morning.

A former fourth-round draft choice of the Green Bay Packers, Dorsey has spent the last eight years in the Packers' scouting department, including the last two years as the team's Director of College Scouting.

"John is a good personnel man and a strong evaluator of talent," said Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager & Head Coach Mike Holmgren. "He will contribute greatly to what we are trying to accomplish here in Seattle."

Dorsey, 39, played for the Packers from 1984-89, as a linebacker and also served as special teams captain, before suffering a knee injury in 1989. He ended his professional playing career with 130 tackles while also leading the Packers in special teams stops three times in his first four years.

A four-year starter at Connecticut, Dorsey was twice named Defensive Player of the Year in the Yankee Conference, while also earning I-AA All-America recognition as a senior.

A native of Leonardtown, Maryland, Dorsey's contributions to the Green Bay community earned him the Packers' Man of the Year Award in 1987.
