The Green Bay Packers have signed starting left guard Marco Rivera to a three-year contract, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today.

Rivera, who had been a restricted free agent, started 15 games at left guard during the Packers' 1998 season, his first year as a starter. A former sixth-round pick out of Penn State who made the team as a long-shot rookie in 1996, Rivera had a strong showing in training camp last summer to earn the starting nod over teammate Joe Andruzzi.

Rivera, who also played for the Scottish Claymores in the NFL's World League (now NFL Europe) during the 1996 offseason, enters his fourth NFL season in 1999.
