| COLTS SIGN UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT RB-DARICK HOLMES
Indianapolis Colts Press Release posted 04/14/99
The Indianapolis Colts have continued their efforts in unrestricted free agency by landing RB-Darick Holmes, who played last season with Buffalo and Green Bay. Holmes' signing is the sixth this off-season by Indianapolis through NFL unrestricted free agency. The Colts have also added DE-Chad Bratzke (New York Giants), QB-Stoney Case (Arizona), DB-Chad Cota (New Orleans), OL-Sale Isaia (Baltimore) and DE-Shawn King (Carolina) through the unrestricted process in 1999, along with free agent LB-Cornelius Bennett, a 16-game starter with NFC Champion Atlanta in 1998. Holmes, 6-0, 226, has started seven of 59 career games since entering the league in 1995 as a seventh-round draft pick by Buffalo, the 244th selection overall. He played the first three games with Buffalo this past season before being dealt to Green Bay on September 29 for a fourth-round choice in the upcoming draft. "We are pleased to have Darick Holmes join the Indianapolis Colts," said Head Coach Jim Mora. "Darick is a tough running back who can pound the ball and pick up the tough yards. That is an aspect of the running game we want to focus on this year. We think Darick is a fine addition to the team." courtesy Indianapolis Colts |
