PACKERS PLACE MANNING, TWO OTHER PLAYERS ON WAIVERS
posted 06/30/99
Wide receiver Brian Manning, a special teams contributor in 1998, is among three players who have been waived by the Green Bay Packers, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today. Tight end Rod Lewis and wide receiver Pat Palmer also have been released, Wolf said.
Manning appeared in Green Bay's final three regular-season games last year, making two special teams tackles. He had joined the active roster Dec. 8 following a rash on injuries at the wide receiver position, including a season-ending broken collarbone suffered by Bill Schroeder. Until that point, he had spent virtually the entire year on the Packersa practice squad after his training camp release by Miami.
Lewis, signed as a free agent last January, previously had played four seasons (1994-97) for the Houston/Tennessee Oilers before spending the
'98 campaign out of football.
Palmer was a member of the Green Bay practice squad at the tail end of the 1998 season and subsequently was re-signed this past March 4.
