| MINICAMP UPDATE
posted 06/03/99 Daily Update - Thursday, June 3 Despite a beautiful, sunny day in Green Bay, the Packers were forced to conduct the second day of their June mini-camp inside the Don Hutson Center due to wet grounds on their practice field, remnants of the heavy rains on Wednesday. The start of practice was delayed by about 20 minutes as some of the younger and new players were timed in the '40' yard dash by members of the team's personnel department. Even with the late start, the workout went a full two hours, and for the second straight day was followed by a series of conditioning drills. Today, however, the conditioning drills lasted only about half as long as they did on Wednesday. Linebacker Daryl Carter, who had missed practice on Wednesday in order to attend a funeral, was back on the field today. Though unsigned, wide receiver Antonio Freeman visited the team's headquarters this afternoon and is expected to attend practice tomorrow. The practice week will conclude on Friday with a workout at 10:30 a.m. As mandated by the current collective bargaining agreement with the NFLPA, the players will have the weekend off before returning to practice from Monday to Thursday of next week. |
