PACKERS-BRONCOS PRESEASON GAME IN MADISON A VIRTUAL SELLOUT
posted 06/23/99
The Green Bay Packers-Denver Broncos preseason game, to be played August 23 in Madison, Wis., is a virtual sellout, Packers ticket director Mark Wagner said today. Only a very limited number of single seats and obstructed view tickets remain, according to Wagner.
Because it is a sellout, the game now will be shown locally in Madison. The contest, which kicks off at 7 p.m. CDT, already had been scheduled to be broadcast nationally on ABC-TV.
In the last NFL game held in Madison, in 1997, the Packers rallied for a 22-17 victory over the New York Giants, also before a sellout crowd of 76,704 fans - the largest attendance ever for a Green Bay game within the state of Wisconsin.
