| PACKERS ACQUIRE FULLBACK CHRIS GALL FROM COLTS ON WAIVERS
posted 07/30/99 The Green Bay Packers have acquired rookie fullback Chris Gall from the Indianapolis Colts on waivers, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today. The 6-foot, 231-pound Gall, signed as a free agent out of the University of Indiana by the Colts following this year's NFL draft, was a two-year starter for the Hoosiers, averaging 4.2 yards per attempt. He supplemented his rushing contributions by catching 84 passes over the 1997 and 1998 seasons, including a career-best 54 in '97, a total which tied him for fourth place on Indiana's single-season reception list. He punctuated his 1998 season by gaining a career-high 100 yards rushing in 5 attempts against Kentucky, closing out the year with 329 yards overall on 74 carries, a 4.4-yard average, and scoring seven touchdowns. He also caught 30 passes for 243 yards, an 8.1-yard average, and one TD while averaging 60.1 all-purpose yards per game. Gall, who has been assigned jersey number 39, is expected to join the Packers on the practice field Saturday. |
