posted 07/02/99 The Green Bay Packers have claimed a pair of rookies, Matt Snider and Tod McBride, on waivers, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today. Snider, a 6-foot-2, 243-pound fullback out of the University of Richmond, had signed with the Carolina Panthers this past April 27 as an undrafted free agent. A four-time letterman (1995-98) for the Spiders, he started his final two seasons at fullback. Snider carried 127 times for 463 yards and 1 touchdown, while catching 21 passes for 202 yards and 2 TDs, in three years as a back after playing linebacker as a 1995 redshirt freshman. Waived by the Panthers this past June 21, the 23-year-old Snider originally hails from Wynnewood, Pa. McBride, a 6-foot-1, 208-pound defensive back who played collegiately at UCLA, originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on April 23. Moved to safety his 1998 senior season, he had played wide receiver his first two seasons (1995-96), making 18 receptions for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns. In 1997, after missing the first half of the year due to surgery on both knees for patella tendon tears suffered in spring practice, McBride returned to action as a special teams player for the Bruins' final six games. As a senior, he totaled 26 tackles, including 2 sacks and 3 others for loss, as well as 1 pass breakup and 2 blocked kicks. The 23-year-old McBride had been released by Seattle on June 23. He is a Walnut, Calif., native. |
