SAUVE, HALL SIGNED; K.WILLIAMS WAIVED; FAMILY NIGHT TIX GOING FAST
posted 07/07/99
The Green Bay Packers have signed a pair of one-time Clemson University players - kicker Jeff Sauve and tight end Lamont Hall - to free agent contracts, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today. First-year cornerback Keith Williams has been waived, Wolf also said.
Sauve (pronounced SO-vay), the starting placekicker at Clemson for four years (1991-92, 1994-95), recently concluded a season with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe, where he made six of 12 field goal attempts. Before that, he had a three-week training camp stint with the Washington Redskins in 1998. He will wear jersey number 6.
Hall, 6-4 and 245 pounds, was a two-year starter and four-time letterman (1994-97) for the Tigers, catching 25 passes for 260 yards, including 17 receptions as a senior. Originally signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1998 as an undrafted free agent, he spent the second half of last season on the Bucs' practice squad. He has been assigned uniform number 49.
Williams, who was attempting to make the move to cornerback after playing tailback at St. Cloud (Minn.) State, had joined Green Bay as a free agent this past April 12.
