PACKERS SIGN RUNNING BACK De'MOND PARKER, FIFTH-ROUND PICK

| De'Mond Parker |
The Green Bay Packers have signed running back De'Mond Parker, the first of their two fifth-round draft choices in last April's draft, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today.
One of the most distinguished runners in the University of Oklahoma's storied football history, Parker finished with 3,404 career rushing yards - the fourth-best total on the school's all-time list. A two-year starter and three-time letterman at OU (1996-98), he is the only player in Sooners' history to post three career 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
"Parker is a darn good running back," said Packers general manager Ron Wolf of the two-time All-Big 12 Conference pick. "We expect him to add an interesting dimension to our team. He catches the ball well, he'll stick you as a blocker, he has toughness."
The 5-10, 188-pound Tulsa native will report to the Packers' training camp along with other rookies on July 25.
Green Bay now has signed five of its 12 selections in the 1999 draft. Previously signed were first-round pick Antuan Edwards, a cornerback out of Clemson, third-round pick Mike McKenzie, a cornerback out of the University of Memphis, and seventh-rounders Chris Akins and Donald Driver.
