| PACKERS INK DRAFTEE HEIMBURGER; FAMILY NIGHT TICKET SALE OVER 28,000
posted 07/13/99
The Green Bay Packers have signed guard Craig Heimburger of Missouri, their second selection in the fifth round of the 1999 National Football League draft, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today. Heimburger, 6-2 and 318 pounds, captured first team, All-Big 12 Conference honors in 1998 and was a third-team All-America selection by The Sporting News after helping Missouri become one of the nation's top ten teams in rushing the football last season. The 22-year-old Belleville, Ill., native, rated one of the premier run-blockers in college football, also excelled in pass protection, not permitting a quarterback sack during his entire, three-year starting career for the Tigers. Heimburger is the sixth of the Packers' 12 selections in this year's draft to be signed thus far, joining defensive backs Antuan Edwards of Clemson (first round), Mike McKenzie of Memphis (third round) and Chris Akins of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (seventh round), running back De'Mond Parker of Oklahoma (fifth round) and wide receiver Donald Driver of Alcorn State (seventh round). FAMILY NIGHT TICKET SALES SOAR: More than 28,000 tickets had been sold for "Packers Family Night, presented by Fox 11," at the close of business on Tuesday, Packers ticket director Mark Wagner reported. The new event, scheduled for Saturday night, August 7, in Lambeau Field, will feature an intrasquad scrimmage, a question-and-answer session with General Manager Ron Wolf and new Head Coach Ray Rhodes, along with an emcee; a practice jersey giveaway, a fireworks display and a live television broadcast on WLUK-TV. Priced at $6, reserved tickets are available at the Packers' ticket office, at the Brown County Arena ticket office and at all Ticket Star outlets. Tickets also can be purchased over the telephone by calling 920/494-3401 in Green Bay, or, toll free, 800/895-0071 from any other location (there is an additional $4 handling charge on the total order for all phone sales). |
