The Green Bay Packers have placed defensive end Pat Ivey on waivers, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today.

The 6-4, 285-pound Ivey, who had played in the Packers' first two preseason games against the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos, had been signed as a free agent February 24, 1999.

The former University of Missouri athlete originally had been signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 1996 (April 26). Waived during training camp that year (August 19), he later spent the '96 regular season on the Chargers' practice squad. He subsequently made unsuccessful bids to make rosters of San Diego (1997) and the Denver Broncos (1998).

Ivey had been a three-time letterman and one-year starter as a collegian.
