PACKERS PREMIER, ON-LINE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE, TO BE AVAILABLE TO FANS

posted 08/27/99

Packers Premier, a new on-line subscription service which provides fans with access to a whole host of multi-media programming, will be available in time for the 1999 regular season, it was announced today by John Jones, the team's senior director of administration.

Taking its lead from the wild success of packers.com, the team's official internet site which was launched in 1997, Packers Premier will offer those living outside of Wisconsin the opportunity to more closely follow their team through radio and television programming not normally available to them, among other benefits.

"Having lived outside of Wisconsin myself, I understand the desire for more information on the team and it not being available," Jones said. "Packers Premier, taking advantage of the new technologies present today on the internet, will go a long way in filling the information void that the displaced Packer fan feels."

Among the many benefits of Packers Premier are:
  • The live, "home team" radio call of the Packers Radio Network
  • Inside 1265: The Ray Rhodes Show, airing 23 times during the season
  • Inside 1265, the team's hour-long, bi-monthly magazine show
  • Vanity email utilizing the email address 'yourname@gbpackers.com'
  • Packers-related screen savers and desktops
  • Specials at the Packers Pro Shop available only to Packers Premier members
  • Inside information each week on where you can tune in to see additional stories on players of your favorite team

All of the current benefits of packers.com, including live player chats, Lambeau Cam, press releases, player/coach audio clips and photo galleries, will remain free of charge.

A sneak preview of Packers Premier -- free radio broadcasts of the team's final two preseason games -- will begin with Saturday night's contest at New Orleans. Packers Premier is expected to be fully operational by Saturday, September 11, when Inside 1265: The Ray Rhodes Show airs the night before Green Bay's regular-season opener with the Oakland Raiders. Previous shows from the '99 preseason also will be archived and available for viewing at that time.

"We are really excited to be able to bring this service to Packer fans," continued Jones. "Over the past few years, we have had many inquiries from out-of-state fans who wanted to hear the team's radio broadcasts, and now we're able to bring it to them through Packers Premier. They'll also have access to our high-quality television programming."

An introductory rate of $29.95 for six months of service is available for a limited time.
