PACKERS SIGN TIGHT END LAMONT HALL FOR 2000 SEASON

posted 03/17/00

The Green Bay Packers have signed tight end Lamont Hall to a contract for the 2000 season, Executive Vice President/General Manager Ron Wolf announced today.

Hall, the team's third tight end for the bulk of the 1999 season after signing on as a free agent, played in 14 games, primarily in a special teams role. An exceptional blocker in the running game, he caught 3 passes for 33 yards. He also posted 6 special teams tackles, 3 of them solo stops.

The former Clemson athlete had been signed to the Packers' 53-man roster as a free agent September 21, two days after starting tight end Mark Chmura suffered a season-ending neck injury in a game at Detroit. Hall originally had been signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 24, 1998, and subsequently spent the '98 season on the Buccaneers' practice squad after being waived during training camp (August 25).
