Three public premieres of the Green Bay Packers' 1999-2000 highlights film, "The Sherman Era Begins," will be presented next week, it was announced today.

The first will be held at the Packer Hall of Fame Tuesday evening, June 6, starting at 7 o'clock. Prior to the film presentation, offensive tackle Mike Wahle will discuss the Packers' outlook for the 2000 National Football League season, his perspective on his own contributions to the cause, and answer fans' questions.

The second has been scheduled at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain, Mich., next Wednesday evening, June 7, with that program also slated to begin at 7 o'clock. Running back/kick returner Basil Mitchell, a special teams standout in 1999 when he emerged as the club's leader in kickoff returns (a 22.1-yard average for 19 runbacks) and in special teams tackles (17), will be on hand to preview the 2000 season and answer questions.

The third and final premiere, again co-sponsored by WDBC and the Escanaba Daily Press, will be held at The Delft in Escanaba, Mich., Thursday evening, June 8. Linebacker Jim Nelson, like Mitchell a special teams stalwart (he ranked fourth among the Green and Gold's kamikazes with 11 tackles) and the author of one of the Packers' three linebacker interceptions last season, will be present to assess the year at hand, field questions and sign autographs.

A 25-minute production, the film features comments from new Head Coach Mike Sherman, including his football philosophy, an appraisal of the team he plans to put on the field and what he expects from the Green and Gold in the season ahead.

It also includes highlights of the 1999 season, punctuated by the three last-minute victories over Oakland, Minnesota and Tampa Bay, orchestrated by quarterback Brett Favre.

In addition, the film features dramatic, voice-over descriptions of key plays by Wayne Larrivee, who became the new play-by-play "voice" of the Packer Radio Network in 1999 - descriptions originally delivered along the network during the season.

Produced, written and edited by Matt Miller of NFL Films, in conjunction with the Packers' public relations department, the film is narrated by Jeff Kaye, the voice of NFL Films.

It will be available in VHS form, for non-commercial group showings (church, fraternal and civic groups, etc.) through the Packers' public relations department beginning June 10, by contacting Linda McCrossin, P.O. Box 10628, Green Bay, Wis., 54307-0628.
