| PACKERS TO HELP FEED 200 FAMILIES IN HOLIDAY OUTREACH EFFORTS
posted 12/18/00
Several members of the Green Bay Packers will be on hand Tuesday, December 19, at Paul's Pantry in Green Bay to distribute holiday dinners to 125 local families in need. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., players William Henderson, Ross Verba, LeRoy Butler, Bill Schroeder, Mike Morton, Donald Driver and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila will work in conjunction with the food bank, Copps Food Centers and Hormel Foods to give out the sacks of food, which come complete with a ham and several side items. Paul's Pantry, located at 1520 Webster Court, has been a partner of the Packers and Packers Women's Association for 14 years, together collecting over $107,000 in cash and 283,000 non-perishable food items in their struggle to fight hunger in Brown County. In related efforts, 30 more families will receive holiday food baskets and toys later in the week from the Packers through the Salvation Army's Adopt-A-Family program. Players personally donated over $9,000 in recent weeks in order to continue the tradition of the Packers "adopting" area families. The Packers also will give 45 additional food packages to the Salvation Army to issue during the holiday season. |
