The Green Bay Packers, who administered the collection of season ticket user fees on behalf of the City of Green Bay, today released a wrap-up report on the program. "The results are pretty impressive," said Packers Ticket Director Mark Wagner. "There are 27,208 season ticket holders and 95% of them paid the fee. We truly appreciate this outstanding support for the team and for Lambeau redevelopment." The 95% figure held true for both the Green package ticket holders (7 games) and the Gold package holders (3 games).

The five percent who did not pay the user fee held approximately 6,920 tickets, which will now be available to those on the season ticket waiting list. "That means, if you assume that those on the season ticket waiting list have requested four tickets each, about 1,730 people will come off the waiting list," said Wagner. "In reality, the number will probably be larger because not everyone has requested four tickets. Still, it's the largest number of people to come off the list in years." There are more than 56,000 people on the season ticket waiting list.

Ticket holders had until March 15, 2001 to return their one-time user fee invoices, along with $1,400 per seat payment for Green package holders or $600 per seat payment for Gold package ticket holders. The City's user fee proceeds will go toward the Lambeau Field renovation project.

At a news conference on March 23, 2001, when a preliminary report on the user fee was issued, the percentage of people paying the fee was 93%. "The number increased slightly because not all of the invoices had been processed yet," explained Wagner. "Plus, when we tracked down approximately 1,000 people we hadn't heard from at that point, 470 decided to pay the fee and keep their tickets." Those individuals were contacted through registered mail and phone calls. A number of these ticket holders are seasonal residents who had not received the initial mailings about the fees. "We made the effort because we wanted to make sure our ticket holders had every opportunity to accept or decline the user fee," said Wagner.

As for how season ticket holders paid the user fee:
  • 54% paid by check

  • 30% paid by credit card

  • 16% utilized the payment program.

Associated Bank, on behalf of the City of Green Bay, offered the payment program which provided season ticket holders a no-credit check option, allowing them up to five years to pay off their user fee at a 9.9% interest rate.

With the user fee program essentially complete, the process is now underway to contact those on the season ticket waiting list to determine if they want the tickets the requested. Some of those on the list have been waiting for tickets since the late 1960s. New season ticket holders will also have to pay the user fee.
