posted 04/24/01 The Green Bay Packers have agreed to contractual terms with a dozen free agents, including two quarterbacks and four defensive linemen, Andrew Brandt, the team's director of player finance, announced today. The latest additions to the roster also include two offensive linemen, a wide receiver, a linebacker, a safety and a placekicker. The "agreed:"
The 6-2, 226-pound Cleo Lemon is Arkansas State's all-time leader in passing yardage (7,706 yards) and career touchdown passes (48). He also owns ASU single-game (403) and single-season (2,721) records for passing yardage. McFadden, 6-5 and a massive 329 pounds, was the starting right tackle for Arizona last season after starting every game at right guard for the Wildcats in 1999. The 6-4, 307-pound Jordan amassed 85 knockdown blocks and graded 83.5 percent for blocking consistency to help the Bulldogs average 362.5 yards of offense per game during the 2000 season. The second team Western Athletic Conference selection started the first two games at left tackle before shifting to the right side for the balance of the season. Brown, 6-2 and 310 pounds, posted 55 tackles over the past two seasons while starting 19 games for Texas A&M-Kingsville, his production including a career-high 34 in 1999. Lloyd, 6-4-1/2 and 271 pounds, started every game but one for Tennessee last season, recording 29 tackles (21 solos), one quarterback sack and 5 pass deflections. He weighed in with 7 tackles for 278 yards in losses and 4 sacks for 21 yards. Sterba, a four-year specialist at William & Mary, who entered the 2000 season as a preseason, first-team All-America selection, lived up to his lofty rating, making 17 of 19 field goal attempts over the 11-game season and closed out his collegiate career with 46 completions in 57 attempts. The Packers now have agreed to terms with 13 free agents in the wake of last weekend's NFL draft, including University of Wisconsin punter Kevin Stemke, added to the roster Monday. BETWEEN 75 AND 80 PLAYERS, including all six athletes the team selected during the recent 2001 NFL draft, are scheduled to report when GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman conducts the Packers' second offseason minicamp this weekend. With Thursday designated as a travel day, the camp's practice agenda will include 10:30 and 2:45 practices both Friday and Saturday and a final session at 10 a.m. Sunday. The schedule also will include team and position meetings - the latter both Friday and Saturday - as well as Sunday morning. Camp will end following Sunday's practice. All practices are scheduled to be held on Clarke Hinkle Field, weather permitting. If it becomes necessary to move into the Don Hutson Center, practice will be closed to the public. |
