Brookins had become a free agent on May 20 when the Ravens rescinded their "exclusive rights" contract offer to the second-year professional.
The 26-year-old Lane College alumnus was the Ravens' second-leading rusher as a first-year player in 2001 - in both the regular season and the playoffs - following the season-ending knee injury suffered by starter Jamal Lewis during the preseason. He gained 551 yards in 151 attempts, a 3.6-yard average, and scored 5 touchdowns while starting 3 of 12 games during the regular season. Brookins also caught 6 passes for 45 yards, a 7.5-yard average, and had one kickoff return for 23 yards.

In Baltimore's two postseason games, he rushed 14 times for 71 yards, a 5.1-yard average, and posted one pass recepti..

Packers Sign QB Brady, Nation's Offense Leader In '01, As Free Agent

The Green Bay Packers have signed quarterback Marcus Brady of Cal State Northridge, the nation's total offense leader in 2001, as an undrafted free agent, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced today.

Brady, a 6-foot, 191-pound San Diego native, last season averaged 363.2 yards per game to lead all collegiate quarterbacks in the nation. In the process, he closed out his collegiate career as his school's all-time leader in almost every passing category - completions (1,039), attempts (1,680), percentage (61.8), yards (12,479) and touchdowns (109). All are likely to remain all-time Cal State Northridge records, the institution having dropped football as a competitive sport since the 2001 season ended. Brady's attempts and completions totals also were all-time NCAA Division I-AA records.

Brady highlighted his pacesetting '01 senior season by unfurling 34 touchdown passes, a school single-season record, while passing for a career-high 3,355 yards, based on 257 completio..
