Packers Women's Association Sets Record For Food Drive
posted 10/25/2002
The Packers Women's Association held its 16th Annual Food Drive for Paul's Pantry prior to last Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins and received a record amount in donations.
PWA members collected over 25,200 non-perishable food items and set a new record of over $14,250 in cash donations. Along with PWA members, volunteers from Paul's Pantry and the UWGB Men's Tennis Team assisted with the collection.
"We are so happy with the collection on Sunday," said Vanessa Lewis, PWA Food Drive Chairperson and girlfriend of Packers linebacker Na'il Diggs. "It was a beautiful day and to have a food drive that's the most successful drive on record means so much and says a lot about the people in this community."
In the previous 15 years of conducting the food drive, the PWA has collected over 294,000 non-perishable food items and more than $116,100 for Paul's Pantry, a supplementary food distribution program for the needy in the greater Green Bay area.
Along with the collection at Lambeau Field, several Green Bay schools held food drives at their schools.
