Packer Hall Of Fame Preparing To Move
posted 11/26/2002
The Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame is winding down to its final month of business at its current location at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Complex.
Hall of Fame officials have announced December 31, 2002 as the final day of business at the current facility. The Packer Hall of Fame will move into the atrium at Lambeau Field and be open in time for the 2003 season.
The existing Hall of Fame opened in 1975 in a 17,000-square-foot building and was dedicated on July 12, 1976 by President Gerald Ford who once had a tryout with the Packers. The Hall of Fame has been renovated or expanded several times over the years including a 7,000-square-foot addition in 1981, a $750,000 renovation in 1990 and a $1.6 million expansion and renovation project in 1997 involving 21,000 square feet.
Over a million people have visited the Hall of Fame in the past 27 years. For the final month (December) at the current location, those that visit will be admitted for half price. Admission prices will be only $4 for people 12 & older, $3 for Seniors 62 & older and $2.50 for children 6-11.
Once the Hall of Fame is closed, the process of moving the museum will begin. Volunteers and workers will mark and pack the archives and move them to Lambeau Field. |
