The Green Bay Packers have signed running back/fullback Adam Tate, second-leading rusher for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the recent NFL Europe League season, as a free agent, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Friday.

Tate, 6-1 and 230 pounds, rushed for 207 yards in 53 attempts, a 3.9-yard average, and 2 touchdowns, with a long of 40 yards. He also caught 10 passes for 87 yards, 8.7-yard average, with a long of 19 yards.

The 25-year-old University of Utah alumnus originally was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted, rookie free agent April 22, 2002. He subsequently was placed on waivers Aug. 26 and was out of football for the balance of the '02 season.

As a collegian, Tate gained 1,479 yards rushing in 320 attempts over two seasons at Utah, despite sharing time at running back. He also registered 19 rushing touchdowns, a total which ranks seventh on the school's all-time list, including 12 as a senior in 2001, third on the university's single-season list.

Tate has been assigned jersey No. 28.
