It's not often you get to see many of the Green Bay Packers greats in one spot - much less in the very spot that helped make them famous. But that's what will happen on Saturday night, September 6, 2003 during the live, "Rebirth of a Legend" event to be held inside historic Lambeau Field.

"We think Packers fans will be very excited when they hear that many of their favorites from throughout the years will be at Lambeau taking part in this event," said Packers Executive Vice President and COO John Jones. "To be seated inside Lambeau and have these Packers legends standing on the turf where they helped create the Packers story, will be something fans won't want to miss." Their ranks at running back currently depleted by a variety of injuries, the Green Bay Packers have re-signed third-year pro Herbert "Whisper" Goodman as a free agent, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Tuesday.

Goodman, originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Graceland University, was primarily employed on special teams during the '00 and '01 seasons. The 5-11, 205-pound Miami native subsequently was waived on September 1, 2002, in the Packers' final roster reduction for the regular season. Gilbert Brown is back...officially...and for good.

Brown, arguably the most dominating nose tackle in professional football, was not in evidence when Packers veterans reported to training camp last week.

But Tuesday, the nine-year veteran - who had not taken part in the team's two off-season mini-camps - proved his heart is permanently entrenched in Titletown by affixing his signature to a multi-year contract.

It has come to my attention from the League Office that Torrance Marshall has violated the NFL Substance Abuse Policy and that he will be suspended for the Packers' first four regular-season games of 2003.

Some time after our June mini-camp Torrance sought out the necessary steps in getting the professional help and counseling he needs. Hopefully this will only enhance his ability to put his priorities back in his life.

I am obviously disappointed that Torrance has put himself in this situation, but I am pleased that he has taken the necessary action to get himself well.

His teammates and coaches will support him as much as they possibly can through this process and hopefully will aid in his full recovery.

Adding an international flavor to their 2003 roster, the Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver/long snapper Jorg Heckenbach, a German-born, seven-year veteran of the NFL Europe League, as a free agent, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Monday.

In July, Packers Youth Football Camps are coming to your community. Packers Camps feature effective, non-contact football instruction and fun for kids 6-15 years old. Entry level and experienced players are welcomed.

This June, week-long day camps in Janesville, Waukesha and Stevens Point featured Packers Camp Heroes like Johnny Gray, Larry Krause, Bob Long, John Anderson, Noel Jenke and Greg Jensen. Over 150 kids participated in the camps. Many of the participants were playing competitive football for the first time.
