The Green Bay Packers have claimed safety Curtis Fuller on waivers from the Seattle Seahawks, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Monday.

Fuller, a third-year professional out of Texas Christian, played in all 16 games for Seattle in 2002, with one start, and posted 33 tackles, 22 of them unassisted. He also had one interception and was credited with 2 passes defensed.

The 5-11, 191-pound Forth Worth, Texas, native, the Seahawks' second of three fourth-round selections in the 2001 NFL draft, played in 10 games as a rookie, with one start, and posted 14 tackles, 12 solo, with 2 passes defensed.

As a collegian, Fuller was a three-year starter for TCU's Horned Frogs and closed out his career with 257 tackles, 192 of them unassisted, 3 interceptions and 19 passes defensed. An All-Western Athletic Conference first-team selection and first-team all-academic pick as a senior, he was a key figure in a defense that led the nation, allowing only 245.0 yards and 9.6 points per game.

Fuller, who will join the Packers on the practice field on Wednesday, has been assigned jersey number 29.

Defensive tackle Larry Smith was placed on waivers to make room for Fuller on the team's 53-man roster. Smith, a veteran of four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, had been signed as a free agent Aug. 17.

The team also signed four players to the practice squad, including linebacker Steve Josue, the Packers' final selection in this year's draft, and defensive tackle Terdell Sands. Plus, the Packers signed offensive tackle Jason Jimenez and wide receiver Scottie Vines.

Jimenez, out of Southern Mississippi, signed with Cleveland May 2, 2003, as a rookie free agent and was waived Aug. 26. He has been assigned jersey number 73.

Vines, a Wyoming alum, was a rookie free agent signing with Detroit May 2, 2003, and was waived Aug. 27. He has been assigned jersey number 81.
