The Green Bay Packers Wednesday activated cornerback Chris Johnson from reserve/physically unable to perform, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced.

Johnson, a 5-11, 197-pound cornerback out of Louisville, came to Green Bay as the team's first of four seventh-round choices in the 2003 NFL Draft. He enjoyed a strong training camp in 2003 but surgery on his right kneecap, compounded by an offseason stress fracture in the same leg, wiped out his rookie year and virtually all of this past offseason.

The Packers kept him on PUP all of 2004 training camp, then moved him to reserve/PUP Aug. 30. Johnson passed his physical and returned to practice Oct. 20.

Timed by most NFL scouts as the fastest player drafted in 2003, Johnson lettered two seasons at Louisville.

The Packers' active roster had stood at 52 players prior to Johnson's activation, after the team waived safety Curtis Fuller Nov. 2.
