Fantasy football, one of the nation's most popular sports fantasy games, comes to www.packers.com for the 2005 season as the Green Bay Packers and Time Warner Cable team up to offer Home Team Challenge.
The program, free to participants, offers fantasy owners the chance to win Packers prizes on a weekly basis, a Packers grand prize of a road trip for two to a Packers away game in 2006 and an NFL grand prize of a trip for two to Super Bowl XL in Detroit in January.
"We're excited to join with Time Warner Cable to offer this popular game for our fans," said Craig Benzel, the Packers' director of marketing and corporate sales. "With so many Packers fans interested in fantasy football, this was a natural way for fantasy owners to enjoy playing in a league against other Packers fans and compete for Packers prizes. Hopefully one of the owners who signed up through Packers.com will win the NFL grand prize, too."
Owners have the option to play on a one-week or season-long basis. Each week, owners will need to set lineups of eight positions, staying under a "salary cap" (lineups will not carry over each week). Values of players may change weekly, as well.
Owners who sign up through Packers.com will be tracked on a weekly basis and each week's winner will be awarded a prize. Weekly prizes include a Packers autographed football, a Packers Pro Shop Gift Card and On-Demand movie passes. The grand prizes will be awarded at the end of the season to the team with the most overall points. (To be eligible for the Packers and NFL grand prizes, owners must play the entire season.)
