posted 11/16/2005

The Green Bay Packers have signed Elliott Harris, Ruvell Martin and Tory Humphrey to the practice squad, and released Lyonel Anderson and Reggie Harrell. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement Wednesday.

Harris, a 6-foot-3, 281-pound defensive end, played in college with Ahmad Carroll at Arkansas. The rookie originally signed as a nondrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in May, but the team waived him at the end of the preseason. A four-year letterman, Harris played both tackle and end for the Razorbacks.

Martin, a 6-foot-4, 217-pound wide receiver out of Saginaw Valley State, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent signed by the San Diego Chargers after the '04 draft. Waived by San Diego in the preseason and out of football for the 2004 campaign, he re-signed with the Chargers in January and earned All-NFL Europe honors for the 2005 league champion Amsterdam Admirals.

Humphrey, a 6-foot-2, 257-pound tight end out of Central Michigan, re-signed with the Packers after spending most of the 2005 preseason in Green Bay. Waived by the Packers at the end of August, the rookie had originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts in April as a nondrafted free agent.

Before releasing Anderson and Harrell, the Packers had one open spot on their practice squad after promoting cornerback Patrick Dendy Saturday.
