Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic To Feature Community Skating

Not only will next month's Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic feature the Badgers and Buckeyes facing off on Lambeau Field, but the public will have the opportunity to skate on the hallowed ground as well, it was announced Monday.
The Lambeau Field Community Skate will feature 17 30-minute sessions, free to the public and open to all ages, spread over the course of two days: Friday, Feb. 10 (nine sessions), and Sunday, Feb. 12 (eight sessions). Skaters will be selected via a random drawing.
"We're excited about offering the community the opportunity to skate on Lambeau Field," said Packers Executive Vice President/COO John Jones. "The anticipation is growing for the Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic weekend and this certainly will be one of the more unique aspects of the event. Many people love to come and see Lambeau for its football history, but on Feb. 10 and 12, they have the chance to lace up their skates and enjoy a distinctive experience."
Would-be Frozen Tundra skaters are required to sign up at participating sponsors from Jan. 16 through Jan. 25 for the chance to be randomly selected. Persons registering must be 18 or older. Each winner will receive two tickets for a specific skating session. Skaters may be any age; one additional non-skating companion, such as a parent or guardian, may accompany the two ticketed skaters to the rink.

-Friday, Feb. 10 (5:30 to 8:00 p.m. sessions): Oneida Casino
-Friday, Feb. 10 (8:30 p.m. session): Frozen in Time, Lambeau Field Atrium
-Friday, Feb. 10 (9 and 9:30 p.m. sessions): Taco Bell (several Northeastern Wisconsin locations, including Green Bay and the Fox Valley)
-Sunday, Feb. 12 (12 to 1:30 p.m. sessions): Festival Foods (De Pere, Green Bay and Oshkosh)
-Sunday, Feb. 12 (2 to 4 p.m. sessions): Mills Fleet Farm (Green Bay and Appleton)
People outside the participating sponsor areas planning on coming to Green Bay and wanting to register online for the opportunity to skate can click here for the chance to be selected.
For each of the 17 skating sessions, 100 winners will be chosen and notified via mail no later than Feb. 3. Each winner will receive two skating tickets and will be assigned a 30-minute session within the sponsor-associated time frame.
All participants must wear skates when on the ice. A limited number of rental skates will be available.

Tickets remain available for the game, slated for 3 p.m. on Feb. 11.
Prices are as follows for the stadium bowl: $24 for adults, $16 for students (including college), $14 for children (under 12). Indoor and outdoor club seats are sold out.

The game also will serve as the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the Hall of Fame. |
