Lambeau Field Concessions Seek Volunteer Groups For 2006 Season

OPPORTUNITY AWAITS TO RAISE MONEY FOR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

As the Green Bay Packers are in the midst of offseason training, Lambeau Field also is preparing for the upcoming 2006 season. Included on the checklist this year is finding a few more groups to staff the stadium's concession stands.

In a longstanding yearly tradition, non-profit organizations work the stands, serving food and drink to fans attending the games, and raise a substantial amount of money for their respective causes. Included among the organizations are athletic booster clubs, as well as church, youth and school groups.

Levy Restaurants, the company that oversees all food and beverage operations at Lambeau Field, has scheduled groups for most of the stadiums concession stands, but still has a handful of openings available for other non-profit organizations to get involved.

"It's a great way for a fundraising group to earn some money for their cause," said Scott Kleckn..

BOARD APPROVES NOMINATION OF FOUR CANDIDATES FOR SHAREHOLDER VOTE

Wednesday at the Green Bay Packers' quarterly meeting of its Board of Directors, Bob Harlan formally became the team's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and John Jones became President and Chief Operating Officer.

The move was part of a plan of succession approved by the Board at a meeting in October 2005. Harlan will continue to chair the Board of Directors and Executive Committee until May 2007. The next step in the plan will take place at the Board's May 2007 meeting when Harlan will be elected Chairman Emeritus after having reached age 70, the Board's mandatory retirement age, and Jones will be elected President and Chief Executive Officer.

"This is the next step in the plan that was approved last October," said Harlan. "I'll continue to oversee the organization for the next year and John will continue to take on more duties and become more involved in the football side of opera..

Cruise For Cancer Presented Checks To Five Local Groups Friday

THIRD ANNUAL RIDE SET FOR JUNE 10

The Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer, a motorcycle ride to benefit cancer patients and families throughout Northeastern Wisconsin, presented checks totaling $38,000 to five local cancer support organizations today at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The funds distributed were raised in last year's Cruise for Cancer, an event that drew nearly 1,000 participants on more than 600 motorcycles.

Jerry Parins, the Packers director of corporate security and organizer of the event, distributed money to the following organizations: St. Vincent Hospital Pediatric Oncology Department, St. Vincent Hospital/Compassionate Care Fund, Unity Hospice, Families of Children with Cancer and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Diagnosed with cancer in 2003, Parins was strengthened during his journey by the support he received from his family and friends and witnessed many families who also were dealing with the affects of the treatment and d..

Packers Donate Nearly $10,000 To Boys & Girls Club Of Green Bay

PACKERS STUBHUB PROCEEDS TO AID ORGANIZATION'S WORK

The Green Bay Packers Thursday donated $9,888 to the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay.

The donation was funded by the team's 2005 proceeds from Packers StubHub, the secondary ticketing program that provides Green Bay season ticket holders the opportunity to sell their unused game tickets to members of Packers Partners, the team's official fan club.

John Jones, the Packers' executive vice president and chief operating officer, made the presentation to Erin Carlin, the Boys & Girls Club's chief executive officer, at the organization's west-side facility.

Packers StubHub was introduced near the end of the 2003 season and, after a positive reception, now has been utilized the past two years (2004-2005). A convenient alternative to brokers and vendors, the program is a seamless and secure method for ticket holders to sell their tickets to Packers Partners members, thus ensuring Packers fans are ab..

Packers To Practice On Clarke Hinkle Field

Weather-permitting, most of this weekend's mini-camp is expected to be open to the public on Clarke Hinkle Field, the Green Bay Packers announced Thursday.

On Sunday, however, the camp's final practice will move inside the Don Hutson Center because the team prefers to keep the city's attention on the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, which concludes near Hinkle Field. Unfortunately, Hutson Center practices are closed due to space limitations.

Before leaving home, fans are asked to check the team's official Web site, Packers.com, for updates on practice locations for the remainder of the weekend.

A red "open" in the schedule below indicates that practice will officially be outdoors on Clarke Hinkle Field and open to the public.

The schedule:

Friday
10:15 a.m. - Clarke Hinkle Field: (open)

Packers' Preseason Finale Moved To Sept. 1

Due to scheduling guidelines, the National Football League has asked the Green Bay Packers to move their preseason finale with the Tennessee Titans.

Kicking off the Labor Day weekend at Lambeau Field, the rescheduled contest will take place Friday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. CDT. The Packers chose that time primarily to avoid conflicts with the region's Friday night high school football schedule.

Wisconsin is home to 459 high school football programs, and a large number of those teams are within 70 miles of Lambeau Field. Many of those schools have scheduled home games for that night. The Packers haven't forgotten frustrations expressed by local high schools due to conflicts with Lambeau Field preseason games in recent years.

Both the Titans and Packers had previously agreed to a 7 p.m. contest Aug. 31. But because that slot fell only 72 hours after the Packers' Monday night game at Cincinnati, Aug. 28 on ESPN, the NFL requested the date be moved back.
