The Green Bay Packers made several roster moves to reduce their roster to the NFL-mandated limit of 75 active players. The transactions were announced Tuesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

First, the team claimed kicker E.J. Cochrane off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles. A 5-foot-11, 204-pound rookie from Montana State, Cochrane originally signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Falcons in February. He had signed with Philadelphia in April and connected on one of his two field-goal attempts, as well as his only PAT try, in 2006 preseason action.

Released Tuesday were fullback A.J. Cooper, long snapper Thomas Gafford, wide receiver Chad Lucas, defensive end Montez Murphy, defensive tackle Jerome Nichols, wide receiver Calvin Russell, cornerback Jerron Wishom and quarterback Brian Wrobel.

Green Bay Packers Help Promote Bike Safety

The Green Bay Packers Friday teamed up with Children's Health Education Center (CHEC) and Kohl's Department Stores to promote bike safety with a bike helmet fitting and giveaway.

During Friday morning's practice in the Don Hutson Center, representatives from CHEC, a member of the Children's Hospital and Health System, and Kohl's fitted and distributed a number of limited-edition bike helmets to Packers fans outside Lambeau Field. Representatives also educated children and their parents about the importance of wearing properly fitted bike helmets.

After practice, Packers players Nick Barnett and Aaron Kampman joined the group and were fitted with their own helmets to demonstrate the importance of wearing properly fitted helmets and following safe practices for bike riding.

The Green Bay Packers are teaming up Friday with Children's Health Education Center (CHEC) and Kohl's Department Stores to promote bike safety with a bike helmet fitting and giveaway.

The Green Bay Packers' home opener, Sept. 10 vs. the Chicago Bears, will feature a special gathering of more than 30 players from the Super Bowl XXXI team, the team announced Thursday. The reunion fittingly takes place on the team's annual alumni weekend.

In a special pregame ceremony, the members of the Super Bowl XXXI championship team will be introduced on the field and brought to the 50-yard line for recognition by the organization and its fans for their tremendous accomplishment during the 1996 season.

The ceremony then will conclude with attention directed to Lambeau Field's east side facade where the name of the late Reggie White, who was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Aug. 5, will be unveiled and join the other 20 former Packers who have received professional football's ultimate honor.

The Green Bay Packers Monday released punter B.J. Sander and linebacker Kevin Schimmelmann. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the moves.

Sander, a 6-foot-4, 218-pound veteran from Ohio State, was the Packers' third of three selections in the third round of the 2004 draft after winning the Ray Guy award as the nation's top collegiate punter. Last season, he averaged 39.2 gross yards on 64 punts, with 11 inside the 20 and two touchbacks.

Schimmelmann was signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Stanford in May.

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, always a popular destination for visitors to Lambeau Field, has been treating fans this summer with new attractions and updated videos.

Chief among the new items to see in the Hall is Reggie White's locker in the area featuring the team's players that are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. With the induction of the late White into the Pro Hall this month, the locker was unveiled as the newest addition to the area that now includes 21 former Packers enshrined in Canton, Ohio.

The locker includes White's jersey, pants, other mementos and photos. Also located at the locker is an audio highlight clip featuring radio calls from White's dominating three-sack performance in Super Bowl XXXI.

Fans, please be advised that the team has closed Tuesday morning's practice, scheduled for 9 a.m. in shells. The night practice later that day also will be closed, as previously scheduled.

The Packers organization hopes that five days notice will give most fans enough time to alter their plans, but for those inconvenienced by the move, the team apologizes.

Four practices next week, one each on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, remain open to the public, weather permitting.

Saturday night's Packers-Falcons contest marks Lambeau Field's first game of the 2006 season and fans will see some new choices at the stadium concession stands, courtesy of Levy Restaurants, the company that oversees all food and beverage operations at the facility.

Fans in search of a bigger burger will find some options with the new Stacked Burger, featuring two patties. Offerings include the Cheesy Stacker, the Spicy Stacker (pepper jack cheese and jalapenos) and the Brat Stacker (brat patties with sauerkraut) - each served with fries. MORE THAN 150 SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO UTILIZE CURRICULUM

More than 130 teachers from around Wisconsin descended upon Lambeau Field Tuesday, Aug. 15, for a 'Fit Kids' training session and left Green Bay excited and prepared to take the program back to their school districts.

'Fit Kids,' a year-long educational program for fourth graders that focuses on nutritional, physical and social health of children, was developed in 2004 for the Green Bay School District. Several other districts adopted the program for the 2005-06 school year, and in 2006-07, the program is being rolled out statewide to more than 150 school districts with thousands of students receiving the benefit of the successful curriculum.

Packers Sign Guard Michael 'Mookie' Moore

The Green Bay Packers Thursday signed free agent guard Michael 'Mookie Moore. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing.

Moore, a 6-foot-2, 318-pound player out of Troy State, is a sixth-year veteran who previously has spent time with three organizations. Originally selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, Moore played in five games, including one start, during his rookie season.

He spent the next two seasons with the Denver Broncos before signing with the Atlanta Falcons in 2003. Moore started the season opener in 2004 but was placed on I.R. on Sept. 4 with a shoulder injury. He subsequently was waived on Sept. 9.

In 1999, the Fayette, Ala., native started all 11 games at left tackle at Troy State. He played three seasons at right guard at Alabama before the transfer.

Brett Favre, at the request of authorities, met briefly with department of justice representatives to identify certain unauthorized merchandise. Packers Visit With White Family Prior To Induction

The Green Bay Packers sent a contingent to Canton, Ohio, today to celebrate the induction of Reggie White into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The group, consisting of several front-office executives, football operations staff, Executive Committee members, quarterback Brett Favre and long-snapper Rob Davis, departed Green Bay very early Saturday morning and arrived in Canton at approximately 9:30 a.m. EDT. The Packers hosted a private brunch, where the traveling party was able to spend quality time with White's family, including his wife, Sara, and children, Jeremy and Jecolia. At Sara's request, just prior to the family's departure, Favre posed for a picture with Jeremy. Former general manager Ron Wolf and several of White's former teammates, including Sean Jones, Bruce Wilkerson and Santana Dotson, also were present at the brunch.

Harlan Will Miss Hall Of Fame Ceremonies Due To Illness

Green Bay Packers Chairman and CEO Bob Harlan regrettably will not be able to attend the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies for Reggie White on Saturday.

Harlan felt ill Wednesday night and associate team physician Dr. John Gray admitted him to St. Mary's Hospital on Thursday for some tests. He is being held for observation in the hospital for a suspected gallstone.

All indications are Harlan will released from the hospital at some point this weekend, but he has been advised by doctors not to travel to Canton, Ohio, on Saturday. He also is not likely to attend Packers Family Night at Lambeau Field. He is expected to return to work on Monday.

"I didn't want to miss Reggie's induction for anything," Harlan said. "The timing of this is unfortunate. Everyone knows how much Reggie meant to the Packers, the city of Green Bay, and everyone he came to know.
