We're looking at this as one game. It's a tough place to play. It's a great game-day environment that will be enhanced by Monday Night Football. That's definitely part of the challenge of going on the road. We're looking forward to the challenge. They're an excellent football team, a veteran football team, and we'll be ready to go.

(What do guys from Pittsburgh think of Philadelphia?)
It's not positive. That's why they're on the other side of the state.

(As an environment, how different is it with how the fans treat the opposing team?)
They're great fans, for Philadelphia. It's a beautiful stadium, a new stadium. I've played up there twice. It's a great challenge, I don't know what else to say. We're looking forward to it. It's one of the wildest places to play.

The Green Bay Packers Tuesday promoted fullback Brandon Miree from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and released linebacker Tracy White. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement.

Miree (my-REE), a 6-foot, 236-pound player in his second year out of Pittsburgh, had joined the team's practice squad Sept. 4. Miree will wear No. 40.

A seventh-round selection by Denver in 2004, he spent his first season on the Broncos' injured reserve. Miree spent all of 2005 on Denver's practice squad and was released in the team's final roster reduction following 2006 training camp.

Beginning Monday, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame will offer a special admission rate of $8 for all active members of the military as well as veterans. A military I.D. or other appropriate form of identification is required to receive the discounted rate.

It's our way of saying thanks to members of the military," said Steve Klegon, the Packers' director of Atrium business development. "The sacrifices they make and the job they do are tremendous. We're honored to have them visit us at the Hall of Fame."

Bartholomew, in his fifth season as head coach, has the Red Devils off to a 4-0 start, their best mark since 1959. We're 0-2. It's a 16-game season. It's not the outcome we were looking for. It's disappointing, and we need to find a way to win those games, find a way to make more plays particularly in critical situations. I don't look at things as 'damaging'.

I don't think the wind factored. Do you mean in the passing game? I didn't think it factored.

(Do you have to get more of the veterans?)
Well, when Ted and I first started talking about the personnel of our football team, clearly the veterans will decide and be the major part of how well we play. That is truly the case. I know there's been a lot said about our youth. Our veterans need to show the younger players the way in a lot of ways - in the locker room, on the practice field and particularly on gameday. We need to get better production.

Keenan Dahl, of New Auburn High School, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

Dahl, in his second season as head coach, helped the Trojans snap a 31-game losing streak with a 34-14 victory over Cornell last Friday night. It was the first victory for the New Auburn senior class.

"I just want to thank the Green Bay Packers organization for this award," Dahl said. "It is very meaningful for a school of our size. The donation will be put to great use for our football program. The kids have worked extremely hard, and this is definitely a team award."

With an enrollment of 105 students at New Auburn, Dahl and his staff oversee a program of 26 players. He is assisted by Mike Dombrowski, Lindsey Loving, Brian Henning and Nick Jones.

The Green Bay Packers Wednesday obtained running back Vernand Morency from the Houston Texans for running back Samkon Gado.

Morency, a 5-foot-10, 212-pound player, is in his second year out of Oklahoma State. In 14 NFL games, including Sunday's season opener, he has 51 carries for 197 yards (3.9 avg.) and two touchdowns. He also has averaged 21.9 yards on 20 career kickoff returns.

Selected after his junior season in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft (73rd overall), he spent four years as a center fielder in the Colorado Rockies farm system before enrolling at Oklahoma State. He ran for 2,661 yards on 451 carries (5.9 avg.) with 23 TDs during his college career, including two seasons as a backup to current Denver player Tatum Bell.

I'd say no. My experience with young players, I think they're the ones who are so resilient because they're so eager. I think they're always focused on what's in front of them, the new opportunity, the next challenge, things like that. I think the older players, it's a bit of a wake-up call for them.

I think it's clearly not making enough first downs. We don't plan to go three-and-out. Our biggest failure in the first half was the short-yardage offense. We had three short-yardage situations in the first three series we did not convert on. That was the downfall of the..

It's disappointing. It's not the way you want to start the season, not the way you want to start your home opener. It's a division opponent. It's disappointing.

(Time of possession in the first half - seems like you guys just couldn't get the ball)
Well, they gave us the ball. I thought really the way the game started for both sides directly played into how the whole game went. They came out, converted their third downs and we didn't. We were in third and short the first three times and we don't convert, even with the fourth and inches. That's a whole extra set of downs. It was our gameplan going in, and one out of nine on third down, you're not going to generate a lot of points that way.

(How close were you to challenge the spot on Ahman's third down carry?)

ADD TO 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF SUPER BOWL XXXI

All season long the Packers are celebrating the 10th anniversary season of the Super Bowl XXXI Championship, and in honor of that game being played in New Orleans, Curly's Pub is joining the festivities by offering a special Cajun menu item each week of the season.

Kicking off the culinary treat is Catfish Louisianne, an entree consisting of two six-ounce farm-raised catfish fillets, dusted with cornmeal and lightly fried. It is served with shrimp etouffee and rice pilaf.

"We thought a weekly Cajun special would be a fun way to add to the 10th Anniversary celebration," said Leo Dominguez, head chef for Levy Restaurants at Lambeau Field. "Many Packers fans love Cajun dishes and we've got some great recipes lined up for the season. It will be another exciting part to this season. We're looking forward to it."

Verizon Wireless Donates $25 to Fight Domestic Violence for Every Packers' Point Scored

In an effort to help fight domestic violence in Wisconsin, Verizon Wireless is once again teaming up with the Green Bay Packers to provide protection where it is needed most-off the field.

Through its "Protection is the Name of the Game" program, Verizon Wireless will donate $25 to a designated domestic violence organization in Wisconsin for each point scored by the Green Bay Packers during the 2006-07 National Football League regular season. Since its inception in 2001, the program has raised more than $50,000 for domestic violence shelters and organizations in Wisconsin.

Pete McAdams, of Stevens Point High School, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

McAdams, a social studies teacher at Stevens Point, is in his seventh season as head coach of the Panthers. The defending Wisconsin Valley Conference champions have gotten off to a 2-0 start in 2006 and are currently ranked No. 4 in the AP Division 1 poll. The Panthers will host conference foe Wausau West Friday.

"It's a great honor to be recognized by the Green Bay Packers," McAdams said. "There are a lot of great coaches in Wisconsin, and to be chosen as 'Coach of the Week' is quite an honor as well. It says a lot about our program and most importantly the assistant coaches that I have here."

(What will Sunday mean to you on a personal level?)
I'm obviously excited on a personal level. From a professional standpoint, it's the job I've always dreamed of, and to have the opportunity to go out there and tee it up for the first time, I'm really looking forward to it.

(Any advantage with your style being unknown, as well as so many new starters?)
Well, the beginning of the season is always unknown, so it could be a slight advantage. I've never looked at it as a disadvantage because you can present different things schematically to your opponent. With our youth, I think we're pretty much going to line up and play the way we need to play. I've done more in the past going into seasons with more of an unknown than I probably have this time through. Once again, it comes down to execution and that's what our focus is on for Sunday.

Re-signing six players and adding two newcomers, the Green Bay Packers Monday assembled their initial 2006 practice squad. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signings.

The team has re-signed tight end Zac Alcorn, safety Atari Bigby, cornerback Patrick Dendy, wide receiver Chris Francies, wide receiver Calvin Russell and defensive end Dave Tollefson, all of whom were released in recent preseason roster reductions, to the practice squad.

In addition Monday, the team signed tackle Travis Leffew and fullback Brandon Miree to practice-squad contracts.

Leffew, a 6-foot-4, 292-pound rookie, played with Jason Spitz, Green Bay's third-round selection in the 2006 draft, at Louisville. A four-time all-conference selection in college, he had signed as a non-drafted free agent with Chicago.

Patrick Wagner, of Riverside University High School in Milwaukee, has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Saturday. Wagner is the first recipient of the award in 2006.

Wagner first came to Riverside University High School in 1996 as assistant defensive coordinator, a position he held for four seasons before his promotion to head coach in 2000.

"I'm honored that the Packers have acknowledged the hard work we are doing here," Wagner said. "We're trying to get city football headed in the right direction, and to be acknowledged by the leading football people in the state is a real honor."
