HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS FROM ASHWAUBENON, WEST DE PERE AND PULASKI SET TO PERFORM IN ATRIUM

A 40-foot balsam tree from western Wisconsin's Jackson County was placed on Harlan Plaza Wednesday in preparation for Saturday evening's 'Festival of Lights at Lambeau Field.'

A crew will begin stringing more than 10,000 lights on the tree Thursday morning. Mills Fleet Farm is providing lights for the tree.

The tree will serve as the showpiece for 'Festival of Lights,' as the Packers and Festival Foods celebrate the yuletide spirit Saturday evening. The two-hour family-themed event, free to the public, is set to begin at 5 p.m. in the Lambeau Field Atrium and will include cookie decorating, holiday cartoons on a big screen TV, reindeer petting, inflatables, holiday card making for troops on duty and photo opportunities with Santa Claus.

The Green Bay Packers Wednesday signed cornerback Tramon Williams to return their practice squad to eight players. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson announced the signing.

Williams, a 5-foot-11, 182-pound rookie out of Louisiana Tech, originally signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Texans before Houston released him in its final preseason roster reduction. His first name is pronounced trah-MAHN.

Packers tight end Bubba Franks, a longtime exemplary performer both on and off the field, was selected as the Packers' 2006 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

As the Packers' winner of the award, Franks will direct a $1,000 donation to the Salvation Army and is nominated for the league-wide award to be selected from 32 NFL players. The overall NFL winner will be chosen by a blue ribbon panel in December and recognized at a press conference during Super Bowl week in South Florida. Balsam Fir Harvested Today For Packers' 'Festival Of Lights'

Preparations for this Saturday's 'Festival of Lights at Lambeau Field' continued today as a 40-foot balsam fir tree was harvested in Jackson County by Northern Christmas Trees and Nursery.

The tree will make its way to Lambeau Field Wednesday morning where it will be erected on Harlan Plaza. The process of stringing more than 10,000 lights will begin in the evening.

The tree chosen for the event was planted approximately 38 years ago on one of Northern Christmas Trees and Nursery's 6,200 acres in western Wisconsin. The state's largest Christmas tree grower, Northern previously has provided trees for the White House (Blue Room, 1970) and Wisconsin's governor (three times).

Any time you have the momentum like we did, particularly early in the game when you do have turnovers, you want to score nothing but touchdowns. Those are all factors in the game, particularly early. We had a number of opportunities in the game we didn't take advantage of, and that's the start of it right there.

(Did you make a more conscious effort to be aggressive when the snow stopped in the second half?)
To answer your question, yes, but it was also based off what the defense was giving us. They were clouding towards Driver a lot, and there were some coverage tendencies where we felt like we were able to get the ball deep. That's why we took our shots.

The Green Bay Packers Saturday signed tackle/guard Tyson Walter and placed cornerback Will Blackmon on injured reserve. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transactions.

Walter, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman out of Ohio State, entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft choice (179th overall) of the Dallas Cowboys in 2002. In three seasons with the Cowboys (2002-04), he saw action in 40 games with nine starts, eight of those coming during his rookie campaign.

Waived by Dallas at the start of the 2005 season, Walter was out of football until he signed with the Houston Texans on Nov. 18 of that year, but did not see any game action for the Texans. He subsequently signed with the Washington Redskins as an unrestricted free agent on March 24, 2006. Walter played in two games for Washington this season and was inactive for another, before being waived on Oct. 23. The Packers have assigned him No. 70.

The Green Bay Packers Wednesday signed a pair of offensive linemen, guard Adam Stenavich and tackle Calvin Armstrong, to their practice squad. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement.

Stenavich, a rookie who hails from Marshfield, Wis., and signed this past spring as a non-drafted free agent with the Panthers, is a 6-foot-4, 308-pound guard out of Michigan.

Armstrong, Philadelphia's sixth-round choice in the 2005 NFL draft out of Washington State, is a 6-foot-7, 318-pound tackle who played in three games for Philadelphia last season.

I've had the opportunity to work with Todd in the past. He has a pretty clear understanding of the offense. Some of the terminology, which is normal as you move from team to team, changes a little bit, so that won't be a huge adjustment for him. He took most of the reps today, him and Ingle, took the reps today in the team period with the first offense. Strong arm, good athlete, he'll be able to do everything we want in the movement phase of it. He's a good football player.

(Is Todd your No. 2 guy going into Monday or is that to be determined?)

The Green Bay Packers Tuesday signed quarterback Todd Bouman and placed quarterback Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement.

Bouman, a 6-foot-2, 226-pound veteran in his ninth NFL season out of St. Cloud State, had played the previous three years with New Orleans, where he worked from 2003-04 with Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy, then the Saints' offensive coordinator. Acquired by New Orleans in a 2003 trade with Minnesota, Bouman spent his first five years with the Vikings, who originally signed him as a non-drafted free agent in 1997.

An experienced signal-caller, Bouman has played in 42 NFL games with six starts, and has completed 129 of 230 passes (56.1 percent) for 1,683 yards, with 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, a 75.3 passer rating. His last name is pronounced BAU-man.

The Green Bay Packers Sunday hosted the championship of the annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition prior to the Packers-Patriots game.

Sunday's participants, 20 boys and 20 girls ages 8 to 15, advanced through local, regional and sectional competitions across Wisconsin to reach the championship contest which took place in the Don Hutson Center. All 40 competitors then displayed their passing talents on Lambeau Field as part of the pregame festivities, with the competition winners being introduced as well.

(What is the status of both of your quarterbacks?)
We'll start with Aaron (Rodgers). Aaron has a broken foot which will require surgery. He'll be out for the season. Brett's elbow I think is going to be fine. He's been in for treatment for both the elbow and the groin, and we'll reevaluate him Wednesday. He doesn't seem very concerned about it.

(Does he have the strength back?)
He's got the strength pretty much back, but it's not all the way back. He's got 48 hours. We'll know more Wednesday as far as whether he'll practice or not. I really don't have a classification for him yet.

(Is there pain there or was it just numb?)
What I noticed was weakness. That was the whole discussion from the time of the injury, through halftime and into the third quarter was that the strength wasn't there, the feeling in the hand. As far as the pain, I'm not sure about the pain.

The Green Bay Packers Saturday signed tight end Zac Alcorn from their practice squad. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement.

Alcorn, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound rookie out of Black Hills State, had spent the season's first 11 weeks on the Packers' practice squad. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent this past May, Alcorn was an NAIA All-American at BHSU, where he caught 85 passes for 1,220 yards and 12 TDs in 20 games for the Yellow Jackets.

The Packers had one open spot on their 53-man roster after placing wide receiver Shaun Bodiford and tight end Tory Humphrey on injured reserve earlier in the week.

Voters on NFL.com and via Sprint wireless service have made their choice. Linebacker A.J. HAWK of the Green Bay Packers is the NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK for games played on November 12-13, the NFL announced Thursday.

Hawk recorded 13 total tackles and 1.5 sacks, and forced one fumble in the Packers' 23-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Early in the third quarter, Hawk sacked the Vikings quarterback for a 10-yard loss. He later combined with teammate Nick Barnett for another 10-yard sack, giving him four this season.

Favre completed 24 of 42 passes for 347 yards, two touchdowns and a passer rating of 100.0 in the Packers' 23-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. He threw a five-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and followed that up with an 82-yard touchdown strike just before halftime.

Tomlinson carried 22 times for 104 yards and four touchdowns in the Chargers' 49-41 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He scored on runs of two, four, nine and nine yards.

The Green Bay Packers Wednesday signed safety Atari Bigby from their practice squad and placed both wide receiver Shaun Bodiford and tight end Tory Humphrey on injured reserve. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement.

In addition Wednesday, the team signed tackle Orrin Thompson to take Bigby's place on the practice squad. The team's active roster temporarily will list 52 players.

Bigby, a 5-foot-11, 211-pound safety out of Central Florida, is a first-year player who made his NFL debut for the Packers on Christmas Day last year vs. Chicago. He helped the Amsterdam Admirals to a berth in World Bowl XIV this past spring, starting all 10 regular-season games and recording 61 tackles (43 solo) with one interception and four passes defensed. We talked about as a football team playing our best football, and I think we did that today as far as all three phases, particularly on special teams. Mike Stock and Shawn Slocum did an excellent job. We had a number of guys go down throughout the course of football game - substitutions and moving people around. I thought they did a great job because it was important for us to win the field position battle, and we did that today. I thought our defense was outstanding in the second half, shutting them down to a field goal. Offensively, we wanted to run the ball a little more, but I think the run game was a direct reflection of our pass protection. Our pass protection was outstanding today - Brett had a ton of time to throw. I'm very happy with the way we played in all three phases, and I thought we put our best foot forward, playing our best football of the season.

We play a certain way on offense, they play a certain way on defense. I really don't want to get into the he-said, she-said type things.

No, I won't. To me, that stuff is totally irrelevant to the football game. Our focus is on beating that football team on their own turf. They watch the films, we watch their films, and we play a certain way, and they play a certain way. Robin Rosemeyer of Gilman High School has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday. Rosemeyer is the 10th and final award winner of the 2006 season.

Rosemeyer is in his second season as head coach of the Gilman program. In 2005, Rosemeyer and the Pirates finished as the Division 7 state runner-up. In the midst of another playoff run in 2006, the 10-2 Pirates take on Hilbert this Friday in the state semifinals.

"On behalf of the Gilman football team in 2006, we feel very fortunate with the success we have had," Rosemeyer said. "We have such good athletes at the school that we are able to put on the football field and an experienced coaching staff."

With an enrollment of 167, Rosemeyer and his staff oversee a program of 33 varsity players. He is assisted by Tom Tallier, Mike Gingras, Kurt Rhyner, Jim Day and Tom Schradle.

He's sore. He's been in this morning, but he'll probably miss some practice time again. We'll know more by the end of the week, but we're hopeful he'll go. He's questionable.

(Did his ankle get worse as the game wore on?)
He hurt it on the play where he got tackled, I don't know if you saw it. It was clearly aggravated when he came up from that. Frankly, the ankle got torqued exactly the way it did when he was injured. Unfortunate, but that's where he re-injured it. I think he just had to rehab it on the sideline, and then he felt better. We were in a personnel change, and the play design was to catch their defense in transition - hurry to the line and snap it quickly and hit the one-step slant. That did not occur. The tempo of our huddle break and so forth enabled them to react and make a big play for the Bills.

(Did you think about a run there?)
I have a run-pass option in every situation. I think it's convenient now to say I should have ran it. Once again, you've seen over and over again throughout the year, we have the ability to catch people in transition through personnel substitution, and that was our play design there.

(How does this loss stack up against some of the others?)

That was the plan. The plan was to evaluate him Friday morning - give him two full days to rest and see how he felt today. He practiced in limited fashion and was able to get through practice.

Jim Bylsma of Cambria-Friesland High School has been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Friday.

Bylsma is in his 25th season as head coach of the Cambria-Friesland program. Winners of 179 games in that period, the Hilltoppers won the 2006 Trailways-Small Conference championship. They host Hilbert on Saturday in the WIAA Level 3 playoffs.

"I'm very appreciative of this honor, and it speaks highly of our program," Bylsma said. "I've been blessed with a lot of fine young men who have a great work ethic."

Despite an enrollment of 140, Bylsma and his staff oversee a program of 54 players, 36 of whom compete for the varsity squad. He is assisted by Jim Knudson, Scott Wotruba, Matt Pekarske, Phil Tallman and Kevin Fude.

I think he's making progress. Like I said, Sunday he was close. He's kind of working his way back. It's a little more significant injury than anticipated because he made such good progress last week. If you watch it on the film, it was uglier than you thought it was. He made a lot of progress last week, and we're just trying to get over the last hurdle.

He has a knee - a bruise.
