LUNCHEON HELD TODAY TO HONOR WINNERS FROM AROUND WISCONSIN
The Green Bay Packers Thursday named 10 2006 Community Quarterback Award winners and honored the recipients at a noon luncheon in the Legends Club inside the Lambeau Field Atrium.
The recipients, including two people awarded as co-recipients, were present at the event and recognized for their work in the community. Each Green Bay Packers Community Quarterback Award winner was presented with a $2,000 grant for his/her non-profit group.
Funded by the NFL, the Green Bay Packers Community Quarterback Award recognizes community volunteers who demonstrate leadership, dedication and a commitment to bettering their communities. The nomination process is fulfilled by charitable organizations that nominate their distinguished volunteers. A selection committee then is appointed by each NFL team to select its winners.
The winners of the 2006 awards and their affiliations are as follows:
- Helen Blader, Central Wisconsin Community Action Council, Inc., Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
- Larry (Moss) Dahn (Tomah, Wis.), Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc., Newburg, Wis.
- Tom Deer, Bellevue East Town Optimist Club, Green Bay
- Ryan Hussey and Becca Davis (co-recipients from Appleton, Wis.), Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America-Wisconsin Chapter, West Allis, Wis.
- Judi McClain, Eastshore Humane Society, Chilton, Wis.
- Robert McQuillen, Northwoods Children's Museum, Eagle River, Wis.
- William "Bill" Perlick, Fishing Has No Boundaries-Hayward Chapter, Hayward, Wis.
- Mark F. Phillips, United Cerebral Palsy of West Central Wisconsin, Eau Claire, Wis.
- John Smith, Volunteer Center Inc. of Brown County, Green Bay
- Mary Ann Steffes, Beacon House, Fond du Lac, Wis.
