GREEN BAY PACKERS, FOX 11, MARIAN COLLEGE, ASHLEY FURNITURE WELCOMED AREA'S TOP STUDENTS
The Green Bay Packers, WLUK-TV Fox 11, Marian College and Ashley Furniture today hosted the "Best of the Class" in the Lambeau Field Atrium.
More than 200 of the top students from 92 Northeastern Wisconsin and Fox Valley schools attended and were congratulated for their efforts inside and outside the classroom. The students also were challenged to continue their success in the future.
Among the speakers addressing the group were John Jones, Green Bay Packers President/COO; Jay Zollar, Fox 11's vice president and general manager; Steve Prestegard, Marian College's director of public relations and marketing; and Bill Fonti, president and CEO of Ashley Furniture. Fox 11's Tom Milbourn and Michelle Melby emceed the event.
In addition to receiving congratulations from the speakers, students were advised to stay true to their values and morals, strive for perfection and have passion in what they pursue.
Jones urged the students to reflect on the important values that had been instilled in them by family and friends as they take the next step in their lives. He also shared the Packers' vision statement and the values the organization uses in carrying out its work, saying it was clear those values - such as teamwork, commitment, integrity and excellence - were employed by the students in their achievements thus far.
"We're proud to have you and your families here today at Lambeau Field," Jones added. "We honor and appreciate all you've done thus far and wish you the best for the future."
The students and their families enjoyed lunch in the Hall of Fame Grill and the students participated in videotaped vignettes to be used during on-air salutes by Fox 11 to be aired during all station programming through June. A 30-minute special, including today's congratulatory program and some of the vignettes, also is being produced and will air on four occasions: May 27, 12:30 a.m.; June 2, 2 p.m.; June 10, 12:30 a.m.; and June 16, 2 p.m.
Today's gathering marked the fourth consecutive year the event was hosted in the Atrium and the eighth consecutive year overall of the program. |
