Lombardi Avenue Construction Complete; Roadway Ready For 2007 Season
posted 08/02/2007
ROADWAY READY FOR 2007 SEASON, INCLUDING SATURDAY'S 'FAMILY NIGHT'; FANS SHOULD NOTE CHANGES
Lombardi Avenue's makeover is complete and it's just in time for the 2007 Packers season, starting with Saturday's 'Family Night.'
The two-stage project, which began in 2004 with the revamping of Lombardi Avenue from Ashland to Ridge Road, last week completed the second phase, from Ridge Road to Highway 41. The east-west artery now has three lanes of traffic in both directions from Highway 41 to Oneida Street, along with designated turning lanes at all major intersections.
With construction finished, the Brown County Highway Department is recommending that Packers fans attending games this year familiarize themselves with results of the work from Ridge Road west to Highway 41.
"We're pleased the Lombardi Avenue project has been completed ahead of schedule," said Dan Drewery, traffic engineer for the Brown County Highway Department. "For years, many fans have been taking certain routes from Highway 41 east to the stadium, and there may be a few changes they should be aware of, both going to and from the game. If they get a chance prior to their first game, they should familiarize themselves with those changes, or at least allow for some extra time on game day."
One major change involves Lombardi Access Road, the street that runs parallel to Lombardi Avenue from Argonne Street to Ridge Road. Left turns can no longer be made at the Marlee Lane intersection. Thus, a fan heading east on Lombardi, turning right on Marlee cannot turn left onto Lombardi Access Road. The fan must proceed to either Brookwood Drive or Valley View Road and then proceed east to Lambeau Field.
Other access points to Lombardi Road have been added and/or adjusted along the stretch from Highway 41 to Ridge Road, including right turn access to Argonne Street and right turn access to Lombardi Access Road in front of K-Mart.
Detailed information and suggested routes to the stadium from multiple directions can be found online at www.LambeauField.com. Alternate routes are included in the descriptions. |
