| Packers, USA Football Celebrate Youth Football With 4th Annual "Play Football"
Packers to Host Area Pop Warner Teams at Thursday's Game; Teams to be on Lambeau Field for National Anthem, Compete at Halftime USA Football, a non-profit organization leading the sport's development on a grassroots level, in conjunction with the NFL and NFL Players Association, is celebrating the start of the season with a national "Play Football" campaign. Bringing "Play Football" to life in Lambeau Field Thursday will be the East River and Duck Creek Pop Warner teams. The Packers proudly support youth football in the community as well as the values it instills in our young people. As special guests of the Packers, the East River and Duck Creek Pop Warner teams will take part in player introductions as well as the playing of the National Anthem. In addition, the youth teams will take to the field at halftime to treat the evening's crowd to a fun football scrimmage. Last Saturday's victory over Seattle also featured area Pop Warner teams. "Play Football" promotes America's favorite sport through NFL preseason telecasts as the campaign's logo is displayed in many NFL stadiums and on NFL fields, including Lambeau Field. As part of the campaign, USA Football will distribute more than $500,000 in football equipment grants based on need and merit to high school programs and independent youth leagues through an online application at www.USAFootball.com. Grant applications will be accepted at www.USAFootball.com through September 30, 2007. |
