Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is a nominee for NFL Coach of the Week honors for games played September 16 - 17, the NFL announced Tuesday.

McCarthy led the Packers to a 35-13 victory over the New York Giants. The Packers have won six consecutive games dating to last season, the longest current winning streak in the league. They won their opener by holding off the Philadelphia Eagles in a defensive struggle. In Week 2, their offense scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns to secure the victory. Green Bay is young and talented on defense, with only two starters in their 30s. The Packers are the only team in the league with five of their own draft choices starting on the offensive line.

Fans can vote on NFL.com for the head coach whose game plan played the greatest role in his team's victory. Voting will take place from Tuesday morning through noon EST on Friday to determine the MOTOROLA NFL COACH OF THE WEEK. The winner will be announced Friday afternoon on NFL.com. In January, voting will be held on NFL.com to determine the MOTOROLA NFL COACH OF THE YEAR.

A closer look at the Motorola NFL Coach of the Week nominees:
-Green Bay's MIKE McCARTHY led the Packers to a 35-13 victory over the New York Giants.

-Houston's GARY KUBIAK led the Texans to a 34-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers bringing the Texans to 2-0 for the first time in their six-year history. The 34 points are the most in franchise history for the Texans. After falling behind by two touchdowns in the first quarter, the Texans rallied behind Matt Schaub's 227 yards passing and two touchdowns, an effective running game and a solid and smart defense and emerged victorious. Kubiak's game plan kept the ball in the Texans' possession for 34:48 and allowed them to put up points in all four quarters.

-Arizona's KEN WHISENHUNT recorded his first career victory as a head coach by leading the Cardinals to a 23 - 20 win over the Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals rallied from a 3-point deficit to score twice in the final five minutes and win the game. After Arizona tied the game with a field goal, the Cardinals defense recovered a Seahawks botched handoff. The Cardinals offense then ran the ball into scoring position to set up for the winning field goal. Whisenhunt's Cardinals put up points in three of four quarters and totaled 431 yards. Second-year quarterback Matt Leinart passed for 299 of these yards and recorded one touchdown.
