I'm not worried about the contact. I thought Wednesday's practice, we didn't go live, but I thought we had a very spirited, physical practice Wednesday. Thursday same thing with the team run and blitz. I'm not concerned about that. But we're the same course of action with the running back group. So as far as who does what, time will tell, but he's not prepared nor is he going to be asked to take all the snaps.

Former Green Bay Packers players Bryce Paup (linebacker, 1990-94), head football coach at Green Bay Southwest High School, and Dexter McNabb (fullback, 1992-93), assistant football coach at West De Pere High School, were awarded grants of $5,000 each for their respective football programs from the NFL Youth Football Fund.

Chilton High School varsity co-head coaches Ray Mlada and Scott Fritz have been named Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

The Tigers improved to a perfect 5-0 (3-0 in conference play) on the 2007 campaign with their 19-6 victory at Olympian-Packerland Large foe Sturgeon Bay last week.

"I'd like to thank the Green Bay Packers and everybody that's involved in with this award," Fritz said. "It's definitely a great honor. It's more of a reflection of Ray, I, our assistants and our players. So it's definitely a great honor."

Army Sgt. Brian Bird and his family are guests of the Packers and Festival Foods at Sunday's game vs. the San Diego Chargers for 'Operation Fan Mail.'

Bird, a resident of Greenfield, Wis., has been serving in the Army for two-and-a-half years and his most recent deployment has been in Baghdad, Iraq, with the 1st Infantry Division, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, HHC. Bird serves as a Signal Support Systems Specialist, as well as a lead convoy driver.

He will return to Baghdad Oct. 6 to continue supporting "Operation Iraqi Freedom" until May 2008. Brian will be accompanied today by his wife, Bonita, mother, Melody Berlin, and other members of his family.

I think it was clearly the best way to go, just from the feedback I've gotten from our medical staff. That's really the group I leaned on the most as far as the feedback on how the camp went, during camp, and then post-camp. That's why you play the games. As far as the injuries, they're going to happen. I'm hopeful this is our rough patch that we're having early in the year. You go through stages like this. Once you get into the regular season games, injuries are going to happen. I think that's just a product of what's going on here the last two weeks. We've played two pretty physical football games.

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame this season is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of Lambeau Field with a new video and exhibit featuring the venerable home of the Green and Gold.

Located in the fan area of the Hall of Fame, the new exhibit contains various artifacts and newspaper accounts from the stadium's opening through present day. The video, a six-minute piece produced by NFL Films, uses images from the Lambeau Field's beginning and captures many glorious moments through the legendary stadium's wonderful history.

"The Packers Hall of Fame is contributing to the season-long celebration of Lambeau Field's 50th anniversary," said Krissy Zegers, Packers Hall of Fame and Stadium Tours manager. "The new display gives fans an even more in-depth look at the history of our stadium. The new film is a great addition to the exhibit, too. Well, first I thought we got into a rhythm early. We wanted to come into the game and start fast in the first quarter, especially it's so important to do that on the road with the atmosphere we were coming into here in New York. I thought we got off to a good rhythm early, and we hit a patch there in the second quarter. Our protection, we had penetration in our run game and I felt like we did a good job of adjusting that for the most part, particularly in pass protection, and our guys played extremely well in the second half.

"I think the award is a great statement for the kids and school and program in general," Koenig said. "I've been very blessed to have some quality assistant coaches as well as quality kids come through the program. It makes my job a whole lot easier."

WISCONSIN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SGT. KELLY BOURGEOIS
TO BE RECOGNIZED SUNDAY FOR 'OPERATION FAN MAIL'

Wisconsin Army National Guard Sgt. Kelly Bourgeois and her family are guests of the Packers and Festival Foods at Sunday's game for 'Operation Fan Mail.'

Bourgeois (pronounced boar-JWAH), a resident of Oshkosh, Wis., just returned from an 11-month deployment in Camp Taji, Iraq. Previously, while deployed to Ft. Bragg, N.C., from 2002-2003, she spent four months in Afghanistan. She has been a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard (1157th Transportation Company) for 11 years. Prior to her current assignment, she served 6 years in the Minnesota Army National Guard. An automated logistics sergeant, Bourgeois coordinates the shipping, receiving and tracking of all vehicle parts for the company's vehicles.

Kelly will be accompanied Sunday by her husband, Mike, son Chris, 8, and daughter, Josie, 6.

New this season,
The Eagles improved to 2-0 on the season following their 12-0 victory over rival Three Lakes at Eagle River last Friday, and will host Lakeland tomorrow, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m.

"We have a great coaching staff and a great group of kids this year," Foster said. "They worked really hard in the off-season. We talked a lot about heart, discipline and commitment. The kids have really started to believe in that and turned the corner."

Pro Shop Expanded To Offer Improved Shopping Experience

This weekend's home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles will mark the debut of the recently expanded Green Bay Packers Pro Shop.

With more than 2000 square feet of additional space, the Pro Shop will offer an improved shopping experience, particularly on game day when thousands of attending fans visit the store.

"We're excited to be able to offer this improved experience for our guests at the Pro Shop," said Jason Wied, Packers vice president of administration/corporate counsel. "By expanding the store and streamlining the checkout process, we will make the fans' visits more efficient and enjoyable."

The space being utilized is the former storage area located along the east wall of the Atrium on the south end of the store, behind the elevators near the Atrium entrance to the Pro Shop.

Lambeau Field Atrium To Feature New Pregame Party This Season

PREGAME FIELD PASSES AMONG FEATURED DOOR PRIZES; OTHER FAN NOTES FOR SUNDAY

Packers fans attending games at Lambeau Field this season will have a new option for pregame festivities as the Lambeau Field Atrium comes alive with a new pregame party.

Beginning at 8 a.m. when Atrium doors open to ticketed fans, the main floor area will feature live music and concessions. This week's band is Spin.

All party attendees are encouraged to sign up next to the guest relations desk for a number of door prizes that will be awarded at 9:30 a.m. Fans must be present to win. The featured door prize is two pregame field passes to that day's game. Other prizes include Curly's game cards, Packers Hall of Fame passes and Miller Brewing company items.

Packers fans and sports memorabilia collectors who want to own a one-of-a-kind portrait of Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre can bid on a unique painting by logging on to www.gamedayauction.com.

Brian Olsen, a Colorado artist known worldwide for his unique style of performance art, painted a portrait of Favre live on Lambeau Field in front of nearly 60,000 fans at Packers Family Night, Aug. 4, 2007. It took him less then 12 minutes to complete the painting.

The portrait, approximately 4 feet by 5 feet, is autographed by Favre and Olsen and includes a certificate of authenticity from the artist. The winning bidder also receives a 12-minute DVD of the portrait being painted by Olsen.

PACKERS-EAGLES GAME PROGRAM TO FEATURE WORK ON COVER

Charles Fazzino, the three-dimensional pop artist who created a special fine art piece to help celebrate this year's 50th anniversary of the opening of Lambeau Field, will return to Green Bay for a special signing session, Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Packers Pro Shop, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Additionally, Sunday's game program will feature the artwork on what is sure to become a prized souvenir for people attending the game. Prior to the game, from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m., Fazzino will be visiting with fans on the Associated Bank Club Level, an area accessible to game attendees with private box or club seat tickets.

Two years after he co-founded the Packers with Curly Lambeau, George Calhoun began writing a piece called The Dope Sheet, which served as the official press release and game program from 1921-24.

Home Team Challenge Fantasy Football Underway For 2007

Signup is underway for the third season of Home Team Challenge, an online fantasy football game offered by the Green Bay Packers and Time Warner Cable.

The program, free to participants, offers fantasy owners the chance to win Packers prizes on a weekly basis, a Packers grand prize of a road trip for two to a Packers away game in 2008 and an NFL grand prize of a trip for two to Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Ariz., in February.

More than 5,100 players participated through www.packers.com in 2006, the fourth-highest total among NFL teams.

Dion Deobald of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, won last year's away-game prize and will be traveling with a guest to the Packers-Cowboys game, Nov. 29, in Dallas.

Owners have the option to play on a one-week or season-long basis. Each week, owners will need to set lineups of eight positions, staying under a "salary cap" (lineups will not carry over each week). Values of players may change weekly, as well.

Annual 'Coats For Kids' Campaign Set For Sunday; Jeremy White At Pro Shop Saturday

The annual 'Coats for Kids' collection will take place Sunday at Lambeau Field. Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to donate new and gently used coats for distribution to needy children through area Salvation Army units. Several drop-off points will be located in the stadium parking lots. Cash donations will be accepted as well.

The Salvation Army and several area cleaners - Lindeman's Cleaning, Royal Cleaners and Martinizing Dry Cleaning Service - are again leading the seasonal effort to collect coats. Coats can be dropped off at the participating cleaners, in addition to being brought to Sunday's game.

The Green Bay Packers signed tight end Ryan Krause to the practice squad Monday. The signing was announced by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

A 6-foot-3, 244-pound player from Nebraska-Omaha, Krause was originally drafted by San Diego in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played in two games as a rookie and three games in 2005 with the Chargers. He was listed as inactive for all 16 games in 2006.

Most recently, Krause spent training camp in 2007 in Cleveland. He will wear No. 48.
