| RB DeShawn Wynn Nominated For NFL Rookie Of The Week
Packers running back DeShawn Wynn is a finalist for Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honors, the NFL announced Tuesday. Wynn led the Packers rushing for 37 yards over 13 carries with one touchdown in the Packers' 17 - 14 win over the Washington Redskins. Fans can vote for one of these five players on NFL.com beginning Tuesday at 8am EST and ending on Friday at noon to determine the DIET PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK. The DIET PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com. After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLII in Arizona. A closer look at the finalists: -Green Bay Packers RB DE SHAWN WYNN led the Packers rushing for 37 yards over 13 carries with one touchdown in the Packers' 17 - 14 win over the Washington Redskins. -Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE GAINES ADAMS had five tackles (two solo) and one sack in the Buccaneers 13 - 10 win over the Tennessee Titans. Adams' first-quarter sack, the first of his career, pushed Vince Young back four yards on third down and forced the Titans to punt. -Kansas City Chiefs WR DWAYNE BOWE completed four receptions for 46 yards and averaged 11.5 yards per carry in the Chiefs' 27 - 20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. -Minnesota Vikings RB ADRIAN PETERSON led the Vikings rushing for 224 yards over 20 carries and three touchdowns in the Vikings' 34 - 31 win over the Chicago Bears. Peterson also finished with nine receiving yards and another 128 yards on returns totaling 361 all-purpose yards which is the third-highest total in NFL history. -New Orleans Saints RB PIERRE THOMAS scored one first-quarter touchdown in the Saints' 28 - 17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Thomas scooped up a loose ball fumbled by the Seahawks punter Ryan Plackemeier and ran it five yards for a touchdown in the Saints' first win of the season. |
