Two years after he co-founded the Packers with Curly Lambeau, George Calhoun began writing a piece called The Dope Sheet, which served as the official press release and game program from 1921-24.

Honoring Calhoun, the first publicity director, the Packers are running this weekly feature as their release, which is being made available to fans exclusively on Packers.com.

Phoenix, AZ - Head coach MIKE McCARTHY of the Green Bay Packers is the 2007 Motorola NFL Coach of the Year, Motorola and the NFL announced Wednesday.

In 2007, McCarthy took a Green Bay team that finished 8-8 last year to a 13-3 record securing the number two seed in the NFC and tying the Packers franchise record for wins in a season (13). McCarthy, who calls the plays on offense, led QB Brett Favre and an offense that came in second in total yards per game (370.7), and total passing yards (270.9), and fourth in total points scored (450). Favre also set four records this year, including the most wins by a quarterback (160), most career touchdown passes (442), and all-time career passing yards mark (61,655). To protect Favre, McCarthy employed the league's only offensive line that used five of their own draft choices as starters. Brandt Leaving Packers To Pursue Other Opportunities

The Green Bay Packers and Andrew Brandt jointly announced Monday that he will be leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities. He has served as the organization's chief contract negotiator and salary cap manager since 1999, among his other duties.

Fifth Annual 'Project LEAP!' Set For Feb. 16

The fifth annual 'Project LEAP!' is set for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the Lambeau Field Atrium. The free community event is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

'Project LEAP!' (Lambeau's Exercise and Activity Playground) is focused on getting kids out of the house to enjoy non-strenuous physical activity.

In addition to the popular inflatables, obstacles courses, the climbing wall and face painting, the day will feature entertainment by Dragon Masters Showcase, a New Orleans dance group that combines breakdancing, acrobatics, music and comedy. The group entertains thousands of French Quarter audiences each year at its regular performances in the French Market.

The group is scheduled to perform three times: 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. It also will offer three workshops: 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Information sheets with event details were delivered to area schools recently for students to take home to their parents.

(After watching the film, is there anything you would or could have done differently from a strategic standpoint on Sunday?)
Well, personally, I haven't watched the film. I know the coaches have graded the film. We talked about it as a staff. Strategically, I mean, off the top of my head, I would say no. I think anytime you go into a game-plan, you look to put your players in position to be successful. Based on the way the Giants played us, I don't think anything they did was a complete surprise. It was more about execution.

(Is that unusual for you not to watch the tape three days later?)

Packers T Chad Clifton Selected To Pro Bowl

Green Bay Packers tackle Chad Clifton has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster, the league announced Wednesday. Clifton replaces Seahawks tackle Walter Jones.

A 6-foot-5, 320-pound player in his eighth season with the Packers, Clifton earns his first career trip to the Pro Bowl. He was recognized as a Pro Bowl alternate in 2004 and '05.

The Tennessee product started all 16 games at left tackle for the Packers in 2007 and has started 79 of 80 games since returning from a pelvic injury that ended his 2002 season.

Clifton will join teammates Brett Favre, Donald Driver, Aaron Kampman and Al Harris at the Pro Bowl, to be played on Feb. 10 at Aloha Stadium.

The Packers Tuesday reminded fans that Wednesday, Jan. 23, marks the close of ticket applications for Packers Fan Fest, scheduled for March 7-8 in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The team also announced Pro Bowl players Donald Driver, Aaron Kampman and Al Harris will be participating in the popular event which gathers Packers fans with their favorite past and present players. The fourth annual event also includes a Friday kickoff event and a tour through the team's locker room.

On March 7, doors will open at 3 p.m., with a kickoff event at 4 p.m. and programming until 9:30 p.m. On March 8, Fan Fest doors will open at 8 a.m., with programming from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A total of 3,500 tickets will be available. Priced at $85 per person for the two-day event, tickets will be distributed via a random drawing to allow all fans an equal chance to obtain them. Fans interested in entering the draw..

We had opportunities to win the football game. I would first like to congratulate the New York Giants and Tom Coughlin. I thought they played very well this evening. We had a number of opportunities we didn't take advantage of, clearly ending with the series there in overtime. We weren't as sharp as we needed to be in a number of segments. It was a very disappointing loss.

(What lesson was learned from the game?)
I think it's important to keep your eye on the target. To me, this is a season of tremendous progress. We made a lot of progress as a football team. We were able to win a lot of games. We put ourselves in position for home-field advantage in the NFC Championship game. But we didn't finish the race. That's the lesson we need to learn. It's a tough lesson, especially in front of our home crowd. It's disappointing, it's going to take some time to move on from this, but this is a lesson we will learn from. And we will move on and continue to grow.

Three brothers, Airman Philip Zemple, Spc. Nathan Zemple and Cpl. Jeremy Zemple, and members of their family will be recognized by the Packers and Festival Foods at Sunday's NFC Championship for 'Operation Fan Mail.'

Jeremy Zemple will not be present at the game today due to duty. The three brothers are natives of Sullivan, Wis.

Airman Philip Zemple is serving with the Air Force as a crew chief with the 4th Fighter Squadron out of Hill AFB, Utah. He returned from his first tour in Iraq Jan. 8, and was stationed at the AFB in Bilad, Iraq.

Spc. Nathan Zemple served with the Army in Iraq in 2003 on combat patrols with the 2-37 of the 1st Armored Division out of Germany. He was an M1A tank crew member assigned to foot patrols in Baghdad. Nathan has completed his service to the Army.

The Green Bay Packers and corporate partner Mills Fleet Farm are teaming up to help battle Sunday's forecasted cold, with the Wisconsin-based retailer donating 30,000 hand warmers for fans entering the game.

The hand warmers will be available in Mills Fleet Farm carts located at all four main gates: Miller Brewing Company, Oneida Nation, Mills Fleet Farm and Verizon Wireless. Warmers will be available until the supply runs out, so each fan is asked to limit the amount taken in order to ensure the widest distribution.

Well, they like to run the ball obviously, and so obviously when the elements and weather are involved, you want to be able to run the football. The positive side is that we run the football pretty good, too. So I think defensively we take that as a challenge. We know that that's what they want to do. We know right off the bat that it's going to be a huge factor in the game, who's going to be able to control the ground game.

I think it's the same thing. I think it's a test of wills because I always look at it as a mind game. When you go into this game, you know the conditions you can't control them, so you basically have to just go play regardless of the situation. It's going to be a mind game because if you let your mind tell you it's cold, it's going to be cold. But if you let your mind tell you it's warm, that you're in Hawaii somewhere, then that's where you're going to feel like you're at. That's why I always say I'm somewhere warm, maybe down in Texas.

Interested Packers fans can further demonstrate their spirit at home, at the office, or even at Sunday's game with a 'G-Force' yard sign, available for purchase today at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

A total of 1,000 yard signs will be available for purchase, beginning at 3 p.m. in the northeast corner of the Atrium. The cost is $5 per sign, with a limit of four per person.

Number one, he's been kind of at this for a while. He knows exactly what he needs to do to get himself ready for a game both from a practice repetition standpoint, from a mental standpoint in terms of film study, meeting time, etc. And then obviously, it's been documented, he spent some time in the training room battling those things, those little nicks that you mentioned, but the trainers do a great job. He's been through this routine before a number of times and he's in the building a long time on a daily basis getting himself ready to perform on a high level.

The Green Bay Packers and healthcare partner Bellin Health Thursday advised fans going to Sunday's game to properly prepare for cold conditions.

Current forecasts are calling for the temperature at kickoff, 5:42 p.m., to be near 0 degrees, so it will be of utmost importance for fans to have their own game plan in place to deal with the cold.

Courtesy of Dr. Don Hartig, of the Bellin Health Family Medical Center in Howard, Wis., here is some advice for battling the cold:

Dress appropriately: Hypothermia and frostbite can occur even without subzero temperatures. Wear loose, dry layers, but don't overdress. Give yourself the opportunity to shed layers to adjust to weather changes. Try a mix of cotton or wool underneath, with something waterproof on top.

Put a hat on: Most body heat, about 40 percent, is lost through the head, so wear a hat.

I think both these teams are pretty aggressive teams. I wouldn't call either of us dirty but I think we play to the whistle, and I think when both teams are doing that then sometimes things happen and I think we respect how hard they play and that they're a physical team. I think we're a physical team as well, so it's a good match-up in that sense I think.

(Do you have to be mindful of not having a reaction that leads to a 15-yard personal foul penalty?)
Yeah, I think you always do every game you go into. I think they changed the whole retaliation rule now, it's not always the person that retaliates that gets the penalty but I think you just have to make sure you're not doing anything after the play. The Green Bay Packers are requesting assistance with Lambeau Field snow removal this evening, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m.

Ted Eisenreich, the Packers' director of facility operations, said the early portion of the current snowfall is in a slushy condition in the seating bowl, and with overnight lows expected to be in single digits, it is important to remove the wet snow tonight to minimize freezing.

Interested shovelers are asked to report to the Mills Fleet Farm Gate on Lambeau Field's west side, beginning at 6 p.m. this evening and continuing into the night under the lights.

The Packers will provide shovels to all who come to help.

Shovelers need to be at least 15 years old and will receive $8 per hour, with payment to be made immediately upon completion of their work.

This is the sixth such request this season.

Any additional accumulation overnight and possible need for removal will be addressed Friday morning.

It's a lot different. We've obviously spread it out a lot more than we probably even thought we would. For his performance vs. the Seattle Seahawks, running back Ryan Grant was chosen as the 'Packers Hall of Fame Featured Player of the Week.' The exhibit contains memorabilia from the victory over the Seahawks, including a game ball autographed by Grant.

Command Sergeant Major Bill Bissonette and his family will be guests of the Packers and Festival Foods at Saturday's game vs. the Seattle Seahawks for 'Operation Fan Mail.'

Bissonette, a resident of Mishicot, is a 26-year infantry soldier veteran of the Army and currently is on leave from deployment as the Command Sergeant Major of Task Force Cyclone, the 378th Military Intelligence Battalion, which is serving in Baghdad, Iraq.

During his career, Bissonette has served in every leadership position, from team leader to command sergeant major, and also has served tours as a drill sergeant and an Army recruiter. He survived the attack on the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, and has served on both the Army Staff and the Joint Staff. He has received numerous awards and decorations throughout his career.

Snow Sculptures Take Shape At Lambeau Field

Playoff excitement is in the air at Lambeau Field, and to help celebrate the postseason atmosphere, three large snow sculptures are being created to greet visitors this weekend to the Packers Playoff Pep Rally and Divisional Playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Team USA Snow Sculpting is creating the three large Packers-themed snow sculptures. The Harlan Plaza in front of the Lambeau Field Atrium will be home to one sculpture, and the Oneida Nation Gate and Verizon Wireless Gate will host the other two sculptures.

Large blocks of snow were created Wednesday for the project, with sculpting work to begin Thursday morning. The carving process will continue through the day and is expected to be completed Friday afternoon.

The sculpture located on the Harlan Plaza will be 12 feet long, 7 feet wide and 12 feet high. The other two sculptures will be 4 feet long, 4 feet wide and 8 feet high.

To be honest with you, I think it is a combination of a lot of things. I'm trying to take advantage of the opportunity and really just wanting to contribute whichever way that is. The team has been doing a great job, pulling together, I think from the midway point of working on fundamentally what we wanted to work on. Even though we were winning games, we felt like we could get better in a lot of different things and everybody has been pulling together.

I learned a lot. Those two years were very good for me from a sense of experience on and off the field. My first year coming out was a humbling experience. Last year, going into that game and not being able to play, having the broken hand or whatever and we jumped out on them and then they came back and we lost the game. The recipients were recognized for their work in the community. Each Community Quarterback Award winner received a $2,000 grant for his/her non-profit group and each Jr. Community Quarterback Award winner received a $1,000 grant for his/her non-profit group.

You've heard Coach Holmgren talk about those guys and certainly they're very well-coached, they have a good scheme and Matt Hasselbeck does a great job of getting the ball to them, and they do an excellent job of running after the catch. Then when they have you spread out and opened up, then they've had some explosive gains in the run game too. Packers Fan Fest, the popular event which gathers Packers fans with their favorite past and present players, is scheduled for March 7-8 in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The fourth annual event again includes a Friday Fan Fest kickoff event, autograph sessions and a tour through the team's locker room.

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Inc. today announced the donation of a game football used in new City Stadium's first ever scoring play on Sept. 29, 1957. City Stadium was renamed Lambeau Field in 1965 after the death of Curly Lambeau.

In a game the Packers eventually won, 21-17, over the archrival Chicago Bears, the first score was a 5-yard touchdown run by Bears quarterback Ed Brown in the first quarter. Pro Football Hall of Famer George Blanda then kicked the extra point and it sailed into the stands to Seats 22 and 23 of Section 1, Row 21, where Joseph Kaster and his wife, Jeanne, were sitting. Packers pride is growing strong, as evidenced in the success of Boston Incorporated's "Free Merchandise Event," which started the day after Christmas in all eight locations. Scheduled to end at close of business New Year's Day, the popular event has been extended to meet demand until close on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008.

This past week Vinnie Fonti, vice-president of merchandising for Boston Inc, experienced the enthusiasm for this event as he worked the floors in multiple locations. All 15,000 tickets available for the Packers Playoff Pep Rally, set for 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, have been distributed, the organization announced Thursday.

"We thank all our fans for the tremendous interest in the Playoff Pep Rally," said Bill Hawker, Packers manager of corporate sales and member of the event committee. "It promises to be a great way to get ready for the next day's playoff game.

"For those not attending, we encourage them to watch the TV program from the event that night at 7 p.m. on WFRV-TV and other Packers Television Network stations around the state."

Voters on NFL.com and via Sprint wireless service have made their choice. Running back BRANDON JACKSON of the Green Bay Packers is the DIET PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK for games played on December 29 - 30, the NFL announced Wednesday.

Jackson ran the ball 20 times for 113 yards and made two receptions for 22 yards in the Packers' 34 - 13 win over the Detroit Lions.

Due to popular demand for the Packers Playoff Pep Rally, set for Friday, Jan. 11, the organization announced Wednesday that an additional 5,000 tickets have been made available.

"The response has been remarkable," said Bill Hawker, Packers manager of corporate sales and member of the event committee. "We passed the 10,000 mark at about noon today, so we made more available. We've had strong pickup here in Green Bay, obviously, but Ticketmaster reports that fans from all over the state, and from out of state, have been ordering tickets, too.

"Game weekends traditionally have been an exciting time all over Green Bay, and I think Packers fans are looking forward to gathering together in Lambeau Field with more than 10,000 of their fellow fans to get ready for the playoff game."
