Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale Set For June 6-7

NEW ITEMS INCLUDE CONCESSION CARTS PREVIOUSLY USED IN LAMBEAU

The 15th-annual Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale is set for June 6 and 7 in the Lambeau Field Atrium. The sale is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Over the years, thousands of fans have perused the offerings over the two-day sale, with many shoppers lined up before the doors open.

Highlighting a mix of Pro Shop items sharply reduced in price and other special purchases, the sale also features items donated by the equipment staff that are no longer needed by the football team, including shoes, game pants and jackets.

New items this year include portable concession carts previously used in Lambeau Field concourses (see photos below). The available carts include a hot dog cart, an ice cream cart and a portable countertop unit. The carts each feature the official "Lambeau Field" logo and have an elevated canopy. Aaron Rodgers, Atari Bigby, Ryan Grant, Nick Collins and Scott Wells are among the Packers players trading in their cleats for bowling shoes at next month's Edgar Bennett Celebrity Bowl-A-Thon, set for Wednesday, June 11, at Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley.

The players will join Packers running backs coach Edgar Bennett, as well as other players, coaches and scouts for the fifth edition of the event which raises money for The Angel Fund for Children with Cancer, Inc. The organization is dedicated to giving financial and social support to families residing in Brown County whose children are receiving treatment for cancer or for bone marrow failure.

I would say yesterday and today are really the most challenging days from a volume standpoint. Yesterday the emphasis was third down. Today the emphasis was red zone. PACKERS AND AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE CAP CAMPAIGN RAISES $340,000 FOR SUPPORT OF SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN, VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The Green Bay Packers and American Family Insurance Thursday announced 10 organizations that will receive funds raised in last year's charity cap campaign, an effort to raise money to support service men and women, veterans and their families.

More than 68,000 of the stone-washed black caps have been sold, raising over $340,000 for distribution to the groups which focus on health care needs, and family support and assistance. This is the third cap campaign for the two organizations, raising more than $1.8 million for Wisconsin charities. The previous two campaigns, featuring pink and red Packers caps, supported charities fighting breast cancer and heart disease.

An unusual preseason slate has created a rather jam-packed training camp schedule for the Green Bay Packers in 2008.

The camp schedule, announced Thursday by Head Coach Mike McCarthy, begins on Monday, July 28, with two practices (8:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.).

The late start is due to the NFL rule that does not allow teams to report for training camp more than 15 days prior to their first preseason game. Because the Packers open the preseason on Monday Night Football, Aug. 11 against Cincinnati, the reporting date is Sunday, July 27, with the first workouts the following day.

The Monday night preseason opener also has forced Green Bay to pack all four preseason contests into a span of 18 days. That leaves only four days between games 1 and 2, and five days each between games 2 and..

Thompson Announces Title Changes

Green Bay Packers Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson announced several title changes in the player personnel department Tuesday.

Reggie McKenzie has been named director - football operations. Entering his 14th season in Green Bay's player personnel department, McKenzie served as director of pro personnel for the past 10 seasons. McKenzie has overseen the club's scouting efforts of all professional football leagues, including the National Football League, as well as providing evaluations of potential free agents. He also contributed in the scouting of college players for the annual NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons (1985-90, 1992) as a linebacker in the NFL.

The Packers Friday announced plans for the third 'Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour,' set for July 8-11, 2008, setting out across the state to thank fans in person for their enduring and enthusiastic support of the club through the years.

The traveling group will include Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy and Chairman Emeritus Bob Harlan, as well as players Brandon Jackson, James Jones and Jason Spitz.

The Green Bay Packers have signed tight end Evan Moore. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson announced the signing Thursday.

A 6-foot-6, 237-pound player, Moore was a four-year letterman at wide receiver while at Stanford. He finished his collegiate career in 2007 with 103 receptions for 1,555 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Former wide receiver Bill Schroeder, who spent five seasons (1997-2001) in Green Bay, has informed the club of his decision to retire with the Packers. Green Bay Packers Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement.

"Bill Schroeder was a productive player for us on the field and contributed greatly to our efforts in the local community," Thompson said. "He was a local boy who made good, and we're pleased to welcome Bill as a member of our alumni."

The Green Bay Packers Monday announced that 'Packers Family Night, Presented by FOX 11,' will take place Sunday evening, Aug. 3.

'Family Night,' now in its eighth year, will feature an intra-squad scrimmage between the Packers' offense and defense. Evening activities get underway in the stadium at 5:30 p.m., followed by on-field football drills at 6:30 and the scrimmage at approximately 7:30.

Fifth Annual Ride Set For June 14; Pledge Form New For 2008

The Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer, a motorcycle ride to benefit cancer patients and families throughout Northeastern Wisconsin, presented checks totaling $84,250 to six local cancer support organizations Thursday at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The funds distributed were raised in last year's Cruise for Cancer, an event that drew nearly 1,000 participants on more than 700 motorcycles.

The Green Bay Packers, WLUK-TV Fox 11, Silver Lake College, United Healthcare, Broadway Automotive and Marian University May 14 hosted the "Best of the Class" in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

More than 200 of the top students from 92 Northeastern Wisconsin and Fox Valley schools attended and were congratulated for their efforts inside and outside the classroom. The students also were challenged to continue their success in the future.

Among the speakers addressing the group were Mark Murphy, Green Bay Packers President/CEO and Jay Zollar, Fox 11's vice president and general manager. Fox 11's Tom Milbourn and Michelle Melby emceed the event.
