No, I haven't. We've got our management meeting every Friday so we'll go up there and talk about the inactives. We've got some decisions that we need to make today and tomorrow. Special teams will probably be the driving force of the decisions when it comes between who is up and down. That's what we'll meet on today, and Justin's situation is part of that conversation.

Packers Sign QB Rodgers To Long-Term Contract Extension

The Green Bay Packers have signed QB Aaron Rodgers to a long-term contract extension through the 2014 season. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing Friday.

"As we talked about in the past, we try to be proactive in our discussions with our current players and we felt like this was an appropriate time to try to come to an agreement with Aaron," said Thompson. "We feel like this is good for the organization and the players, and we will continue this approach as we move forward."

A 24-year-old, fourth-year player, Rodgers was the Packers' first-round draft pick in 2005. He has started all seven games for Green Bay this season and has thrown for 1,668 yards and 12 touchdowns for a 98.8 passer rating.

Ted Wilson, of Medford High School, has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

Wilson is in his third year as the head coach at Medford, and recorded his first WIAA playoff win Tuesday night when the Raiders defeated No. 2-ranked Hayward High School by a score of 15-7. With the win, the Raiders improved their overall record to 5-5 for the season. Against Hayward, the Medford offense racked up 261 yards on the ground, and the defense held the previously undefeated Hurricanes in check, yielding just seven points, their lowest total of the season.

"We're a very senior-led team, and the kids played outstanding," Wilson said. "They executed the gameplan and without them, I wouldn't be in the position I am today."

Wilson and his staff oversee a program made up of 65 players, including a varsity team of 45. His assistant coaching staff includes Nathan Bluhm, Tran Brooks, Ross Hackbarth, Greg Klapatausk..

James has done a good job. He looks like he's running well. It's good to have him back out there. He needs to be more involved in special teams, so we're trying to get him more reps there. He looks like he's healthy. It's good to have him back out there.

Health-wise, absolutely.

He's another playmaker. I thought James played very well for a rookie last year and his contributions. He was clearly was probably having one of the better training camps where you really saw the development from year one to year two. It's unfortunate he got hurt in the preseason game up there in Denver, but it's good to have him back. He gives us another big, physical receiver.

Aaron Rodgers was classified as limited. Basically he was on a pitch count. He took pretty much all the run game and was limited in the passing game.

(How many pitches did you limit him to?)
It's irrelevant.

(Do you feel the time off helped his shoulder?)
Definitely. I think he's at the point where the strength is not an issue. Everything from a structure standpoint is not an issue. It just needs rest. That's what Dr. McKenzie keeps telling me. As much rest as we can give him, the better, just so it doesn't flare up on him. That's why they've established a pitch count for today, and I'll give him one tomorrow, and then we'll see where we are on Friday.

The Green Bay Packers have signed cornerback Kennard Cox to the practice squad. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transaction Monday.

A 6-foot, 200-pound rookie, Cox was a seventh-round draft choice of the Buffalo Bills in 2008. He was a four-year letterman (2004-07) at the University of Pittsburgh.

Head coach MIKE MC CARTHY of the Green Bay Packers is the MOTOROLA NFL COACH OF THE WEEK for games played on October 19-20, the NFL announced Friday.

Mike McCarthy and the Green Bay Packers stopped the upward momentum of the Indianapolis Colts with a 34 -14 win. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers controlled the ball for nearly 34 minutes connecting on 21 of 28 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown. The Green Bay defense added to the scoring efforts with two interceptions returned for touchdowns -- a third-quarter 62-yard return by FS Nick Collins and a 99-yard fourth-quarter score by SS Aaron Rouse.

McCarthy was selected as Motorola NFL Coach of the Week from among three finalists by voters on NFL.com. The other finalists were head coaches TOM CABLE of the Oakland Raiders and JIM HASLETT of the St. Louis Rams.

The Green Bay Packers today reminded potential applicants that nominations for the Community Quarterback Award are due Oct. 31.

Funded by the Green Bay Packers and NFL Charities, the Community Quarterback Award recognizes outstanding volunteers within the state of Wisconsin. Non-profit (501(c)(3) or 509) organizations are invited to nominate outstanding volunteers who demonstrate leadership, dedication and a commitment to bettering their communities through volunteerism.

The Community Quarterback Award is for volunteers who are not compensated for their services. Ten nominees will be selected and each will receive a $2,000 grant in the name of the non-profit organization from the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay Packers Hall Of Fame, Inc., Announces Donation of McNally Shoulder Pads, Other Items

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Inc., announced Thursday the donation of four vintage items, including shoulder pads worn by Johnny "Blood" McNally, the storied halfback who played for the Packers for seven seasons (1929-33, 1935-36) and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.

The donations were made by John Coppens Sr. on behalf of four generations of his family: Henry Coppens (his father), John Coppens Sr., John Coppens Jr. (his son) and Henry Coppens (his grandson). The donations were in the name of Henry Coppens, the grandson, in honor of his great-grandfather.

In addition to the shoulder pads, also donated were a sideline coat from the 1930s, an autographed football from the 1950s and a copy of the book, Run to Daylight, autographed to John by its authors, Vince Lombardi and W.C. Heinz.

Bryce Paup, of Green Bay Southwest High School, has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Paup, who is in his second season as head coach, has led Southwest to victories in four of their last five games despite starting the 2008 campaign with three consecutive losses. Their most recent victory came over Ashwaubenon High School, who had previously posted a perfect 6-0 conference record before entering last Friday's game with Southwest.

"The kids are very resilient and the coaching staff did a great job," Paup said. "When you surround yourself with quality people, it becomes contagious, and that's what got us through the tough stretch of the first part of our season."

The fifth-year running back rushed for 160 yards on 25 carries (6.4 average) and scored three touchdowns in the Rams' 34-14 win over Dallas. For his performance vs. the Indianapolis Colts, safety Nick Collins was chosen as the Packers 'Hall of Fame Featured Player of the Week.' The weekly exhibit contains memorabilia from the victory over the Colts, including a game ball autographed by Collins.

Collins authored a game-changing play, returning an interception of Peyton Manning 62 yards for a touchdown on the Colts' opening possession of the third quarter to make the score 24-7. Collins shares, with teammate Charles Woodson, the NFL lead in interceptions (four) and interceptions returned for touchdowns (two).

I thought our defense was excellent today, along with the crowd. When you play great defense and having the crowd at Lambeau Field, that's what it looks like right there. I thought it was a great victory into the bye and I thought our defense was huge today.

He didn't finish practice yesterday. He worked through most of it. I talked to him afterwards, thought he had a chance today. But in his evaluation this morning, we ended up holding him, so it looks like he won't be back until after the bye week.

Sgt. Galen Montcalm And Family To Be Recognized Sunday For 'Operation Fan Mail' From Packers And Festival Foods

Army Sergeant Galen Montcalm and his family will be recognized by the Packers and Festival Foods at Sunday's game vs. the Indianapolis Colts for 'Operation Fan Mail.'

Montcalm is native of Cudahy, Wis., and currently is in Wisconsin on leave from his second tour of duty in Iraq. A combat engineer with the 5th Engineering Battalion, 87th Engineering Company based out of Ft. Hood, Texas, Montcalm searches for and dismantles or destroys IEDs (improvised explosive devices).

His second tour in Iraq will finish in July 2009.

Montcalm will be joined at the game by his mother, Donna Zehner, and his brothers, Sean and Ryan.

'Operation Fan Mail' returns this season with the Green Bay Packers and Festival Foods recognizing military families at each home game. The program, which debuted in 2007, will salute the family on the field during pregame activities.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Al Harris will host the second annual Stars & Strikes, a celebrity bowling tournament with other Packers players, the evening of Nov. 17 at the Pro Bowl within the Suamico Ale House and Conference Center in Green Bay.

Harris will use net proceeds from the event to take several area children, from either the Pals Program or foster care unit of the Brown County Human Services Department, on a holiday shopping outing at which they'll be able to purchase gifts for their siblings, and their natural or foster parents, depending on their situation.

Justin Harrell was a full participant in practice today. I had the opportunity to observe him throughout the individual. I think he's in very good shape. We'll use the full week of practice to determine his status. I thought he got off to a good start. I won't know the specifics of how he did in the team periods until we watch the film.

I would say Al is doubtful for Sunday. Al and I talked again at practice. He was able to do a lot of the individual drills, more extensive conditioning. He feels great. Mentally he feels he could play. We're just going to follow the direction of the doctors.

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Inc., will be hosting a book signing Sunday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for fans attending the Packers-Colts game.

Author David Zimmerman and Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Lynn Dickey will be signing copies of Zimmerman's book, Lambeau Legends, Packer Profiles of Courage, in the Lombardi area of the Hall of Fame. Dickey is among the Packers profiled in the book, his success coming after serious injuries early in his career.

Hardcover books will be available for purchase at the signing for $25. Dickey and Zimmerman will be signing only copies of the book.

Dan St. Arnauld, Head Coach of Northern Elite (Niagara-Goodman-Pembine) High Schools, has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.

"This is a nice honor for not only me, but for our kids as well," St. Arnauld said. "They're the ones who put in all of the time and effort. It's been a great success story, and we hope we can keep it going."

Northern Elite is currently 7-0, including a perfect 5-0 in Northern Lakes Conference competition, having outscored their opponents 313-46 on the season. The Predators' 38-12 victory over the Crivitz Wolverines last Friday carried them one step closer to their fourth consecutive conference championship.

"We're on the doorstep. If we can win one out of the next two we'll at least assure ourselves a tie," St. Arnauld said.

SEARCH FOR HOLIDAY TREE UNDERWAY

The Green Bay Packers and Festival Foods are set to host the third annual Festival of Lights at Lambeau Field, Saturday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Packers again are seeking assistance in finding a holiday tree. Anyone from Wisconsin or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan who has a 35-45 foot evergreen tree and wants to donate it to the event is asked to submit a proposal, in 100 words or less, on why his or her tree should be used for 'Festival of Lights' and displayed at Lambeau Field through the holiday season. Proposals should include a photo of the tree, and can be submitted through Monday, Nov. 10.

For his performance vs. the Seattle Seahawks, defensive end Aaron Kampman was chosen as the Packers 'Hall of Fame Featured Player of the Week.' The exhibit contains memorabilia from the victory over the Seahawks, including a game ball autographed by Kampman.

Kampman registered two sacks among four tackles, and also added three quarterback hits. The Packers defense limited the Seahawks to just 177 total yards in the win at Qwest Field. It was the first time since Dec. 21, 2006, vs. Minnesota that the Packers held an opponent under 200 total yards.

The Green Bay Packers and Sargento are in midst of their sixth season teaming together to support "Touchdowns for Charity," a program that raises money for the Wisconsin Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee County and Paul's Pantry in Green Bay.

For each offensive touchdown scored by the Packers during the 2008 season, Sargento is donating $1,000 to the Hunger Task Force. And new for this season, Sargento also is donating $500 to Paul's Pantry for every touchdown scored by a wide receiver.

Thus far in 2008, $12,000 (on 12 offensive TDs) has been raised for the Hunger Task Force and $3,500 (on seven TDs scored by wide receivers) for Paul's Pantry.

Nitschke Field Project Well Underway

Work is well underway on the project to construct a new Ray Nitschke Field on the east side of the Don Hutson Center.

Currently, workers are constructing a new parking lot on what formerly was Nitschke Field. Once the new lot is complete, the current parking lot adjacent to the Hutson Center will be transformed into the new practice field, complete with permanent bleachers on the east side of the field. The new Nitschke Field will utilize the same natural grass-DD GrassMaster surface used on Clarke Hinkle Field and Lambeau Field.

Actually, Aaron went through majority of the practice. We really didn't do any throwing. He was involved in everything else but that. Mike has a pretty good sprained ankle, just to quote Pat McKenzie. He's going to be challenged to play this week, so our plan for Mike Montgomery is to rehab him as much as we can today and tomorrow, and then Pat will re-assess his condition Friday morning. There is a slight potential that he'll be able to practice Friday, but I would think, just based off this morning's conversation and his evaluation, I would think he will be a Sunday workout guy that we'll work out before the game up in Seattle and see if he can go.

Lambeau Field is preparing for a weekend of Halloween fun with two popular events, the Haunted Concourse and Spooktacular Fun.

The Haunted Concourse this year is open for two days of thrills and is accessed through the Oneida Nation Gate. It is open Friday, Oct. 10, from 8 to 11 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 11, for three sessions: 10 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. Lines may be cut off prior to the end times to ensure no unnecessary waits.

Designed for teens with a PG-13 rating, the Haunted Concourse will be set in a darkened Lambeau Field concourse and feature scenes of high-tech shocks and horrors. The new billboards feature a Packers player tackling an opposing player on one billboard. The slogan accompanying the football imagery reads: "Dislocation." I'll start with the injuries first. Donald Driver had his hand stepped on, he did return. Chad Clifton had a hamstring. He did not return. Mike Montgomery had an ankle injury, he did not return. I have not yet got a report on how Aaron Rodgers came out of the game.

Well, we're 2-3 right now. Where we go from here is we get them in here tomorrow and we need to demand more. We need to do a better job of demanding as a staff to get it done the right way from the players. I'm not happy with the way it's going as far as the fundamentals. We're making common mistakes, things you're stressing in practice and we need to clean it up. Our house is messy right now and nobody is happy about it. We'll continue to work, but we're 2-3 and we'll get it cleaned up tomorrow as we head into Seattle.

Packers Women's Association Food Drive Collects 7,200 Food Items And $10,950 At Sunday's Game

Fans attending Sunday's Packers-Falcons game donated approximately 7,200 non-perishable food items and $10,950 for the Packers Women's Association's 22nd Annual Food Drive for Paul's Pantry, a supplementary food distribution program for the needy in the greater Green Bay area.

Overall, in 22 years of conducting the food drive, the PWA has collected approximately 580,800 non-perishable food items and $214,450 for Paul's Pantry.

Festival Foods assisted promoting the effort with a 'Big Cart' in the Lambeau Field parking lot Sunday. Additionally, the De Pere Festival Foods location helped kick off the week Sept. 29 as Dr. Kaye Cole, Laura Hawk and other PWA members bagged groceries to promote the cause.

Additional donations and contributions can continue to be made directly at Paul's Pantry.

Aaron Rodgers, he has 48 hours. What we did with Aaron today, he went through the jog-through. That was more of a warm-up and he needed to get the mental preparation there, a number of things we felt he needed to see, along with getting Matt Flynn ready, was the focus of the jog-through. Then he went through a rehab testing period and hopefully he feels good in the morning, and we'll give him 48 hours to get ready to go.

Jason Harder, of Green Lake High School, has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

Harder's Green Lake team has started the 2008 season 3-2, outscoring opponents by a combined 110-34 in their three wins. The Division 7 school features a total enrollment of just 123 students, 21 of which are members of the varsity football team.

"Our kids really worked hard in practice and have done pretty much everything we've asked them to do," Harder said. "Being where we are in the season right now is a result of their commitment to what we're doing."

The Lakers have advanced to the playoffs just one other time in the program's history (2006), and enter Friday night's homecoming game against Trailways-Small Conference foe Rio High School in need of one more victory to clinch a berth in the postseason.

Well, he went some today, and he went through his rehab improved, as far as the intensity of it, and preliminary testing. Hopefully he responds to that. There was some hope of him possibly practicing full today, but it didn't work out that way.

Charlie Peprah was someone we felt was pushing the other guys in training camp and had the pretty significant hamstring injury, missed a lot of time. It's good to have him back. Work Gets Underway Thursday, Oct. 2; Hometown Huddle Event To Take Place Oct. 7

This year's NFL/United Way Hometown Huddle project features the Green Bay Packers teaming with the City of Green Bay to provide a new playground for the city's Beaumont Elementary School Park. The majority of the work on the new system will take place Thursday, Oct. 2. Finishing work by Packers players and the ribbon-cutting, Hometown Huddle event will take place Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The new equipment, an Evos play-system from Landscape Structures, was purchased through Gerber Leisure Products, a Mount Horeb, Wis., company that designs and constructs playgrounds.

Aaron Rodgers, our plan today after consulting with the medical staff, Dr. McKenzie, we're going to not throw him in practice today and tomorrow. He will be re-examined again on Friday morning, which is customary in our medical process through the week. The players go through evaluations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Aaron will follow the same pattern. As far as his progress that he's made from Monday to today, he's gotten better each day in rehab. He's very positive, feels like he's improving, and I'm going to give him every possible chance to play in the game.

(You said before that Wednesday's practice would be an important indicator. Him not doing anything but handoffs, how should we read that?)

The Green Bay Packers have placed defensive end Cullen Jenkins on injured reserve with a chest injury and signed defensive end Kenny Pettway. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transaction Wednesday.

Jenkins, a fifth-year pro, had started all four games this season for the Packers. He tallied 18 tackles (13 solo), 21/2 sacks, one pass defensed and a forced fumble on the season.

Pettway, a 6-foot-3, 248-pound third-year player from Grambling State, spent the past two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a seventh-round selection of the Houston Texans in 2005 and spent time on the Texans' practice squad.

With the Jaguars, he appeared in 17 games and tallied 12 tackles (nine solo), 3 sacks and a forced fumble. He will wear No. 93.
