Robert Ferguson was getting around on crutches as recently as Monday, but there remains hope that the third-year wide receiver will be able play this weekend against the Detroit Lions despite knee and ankle sprains sustained Sunday against Minnesota.

Ferguson was listed as questionable on the team's injury report Wednesday, meaning there's a 50-percent chance that he'll be in the lineup this weekend.

Although Ferguson didn't practice Wednesday, his injuries are said to have improved.

However, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman suggested that his receiver's confident strut makes it difficult to monitor his progress.

"He came up to my office yesterday," Sherman said, "and it's hard to tell with Robert when he's walking because he kind of has that little walk going on -- chillin', that's what they call it. I don't know what that means. But that's how he normally walks, so it's hard to tell if he's limping.

"I think I saw a little bit of a John Wayne limp in his walk, but he is better than what he was."

Most likely, Ferguson will try to practice Friday.

With Donald Driver (neck) already ruled out out, if Ferguson can't play this week, Javon Walker and Antonio Freeman would likely be the Packers' starting receivers.
