Christmas came early -- six months early to be exact -- for Green Bay children on Saturday.
As part of the city's third annual Kids' Day, running back Najeh Davenport and defensive tackle James Lee signed autographs and took pictures with the children aged 17 and under.
The day also included free rides at Bay Beach Amusement Park, free movies at the Meyer Theatre, free swimming at Colburn and Joannes pools, a free concert at St. James Park and free bowling at Rivera Lanes.
Green Bay mayor Jim Schmitt ate lunch with kids at Joannes Park.
Believing that children needed a day for themselves like Father's Day and Mother's Day, Schmitt used to celebrate the occasion with his family. When he took office in 2003, he implemented the holiday on a city-wide basis.
